I just went kulai yesterday. Together with the birds (cbr1100xx and a hayabusa), of course the bike cannot catch up with them 200+km/h constant, but the 17 years old cbr400rrK is going at 180km/h constant at first for 10 minutes, then scare the bike cannot tahan the stress and dono the history of the bike, so I decided to play safe and go 150km/h constant.

Tested its speed along 2nd link causeway when going in, went above 210km/h, the rpm only at 11-12k. Still can go a long way, but I no ball to try. First time I went so fast before. My fireblade R model last time only can go 195km/h then power cut already. ALong the way back from Kulai, I tried again and it goes up above 210km/h without hesistate but I never trottle more becos I am a new rider at such speed, and I am not use to the speed plus I am with a pillion both of us without any gears not even glove so I closed trottle again.

I estimate this bike at least at reach 230-240km/h. Because from 150-190km/h it rise very fast and is very willing to go. Fireblade (my R model last time) from 150-190km/h need to wait quite some time. When I reach 210km/h trottle only abt 60%, not yet full trottle yet. I guess I have to get use to the bike first, get proper gears, then try again when I have more experience at such speed. Really find this bike quite amazing, 17 years old engine yet going strong. Of course I dont intend to use this bike at the extreme speed, I am killing it I guess if I do so. I am happy of I can maintain 150-160km/h and ride relaxly for short touring trips. Anyway $2000+ bike price plus spending $700+ to service it and rebuild it, quite worth the money already.

Going short trip to KL or Genting at 150-160km/h I guess should have no problem. At most bring spare coolent and water to top up if need. Cos the only thing to worry is heat for bike of such a age.

actually i personally think cbr can stay cruise at 190 or even 200, cos the rpm is only 13k. 14k jus the start of red zone.. when i go 2nd link, whenever its a straight, i will go to the top of my speed until i need to slow down or when theres a turn.. my speed needle can reach in between of the km'hr n the nippon word.. but i was clock by 12r b4, 200km'hr is my max.. guess i have to do something to make the rpm goes into the red zone.. anyway my sproc size is 15 40 if not wrong.. so no worry for those who wana go fast and worry that ur bike cannot stay up there too long.. we are inline 4, not single piston anymore

:goodluck:

lack of or poor electricity may lead to jerking, but his bike drew back only after clear meter... did ur rpm drop? by how much?

why bother with him, in the first place.. if he understood how inline4 engines work, he won't stand a chance against u with his v4 in a drag race.

The V4 is a heavier bike though it is slightly shorter in length than the blade. Maybe better handling comes from those USD forks which are so prone to leaks.

He can say what he wants about his V4. don't bother to waste ur time with him.

Actually I travelled beyond the nippon word at the meter already. If the plot on the speedo is continuous, at the "km/h" word is abt 200km/h. At the nippon word is 210km/h on our speedo. I always have a fear whenever the needle goes beyond the nippon by 5-10 km/h. I scare the speedo meter spoil if go more than 210 or 220km/h. Thats why everytime after 210km/h, I close trottle. The needle is touching or overlapping the last digit of the milege meter after speed in excess of 210km/h.

Anyone tried way after the nippon? What is the maximum angle the needle can turn until? Will the needle spoil?

hi all, just a qns. do u all maintain throttle and ur speed will go up from 90km/h -> 100km/h easily? for my bike, i have to open abit more throttle den can get to 100km.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh170/niccc85/ownurass.gif

if you are cruising at 90km/h then you are holding the throttle open enough to stay at 90. If you are accelerating up to 90 say from 50 then keeping the throttle at the same opening after you hit 90 it will continue to accelerate.

another question guys... i realise whenever it rain heavily water gets into my rear seat compartment and cause everthing to be wet... is there a way to prevent it? wat do u guys do abt it?

ehh....

i think the pic is just only there to illustrate the nippon sekkei thing, and the km/hr thing lah.... right?

i dun think it's possible to reach 6 o'clock~...

also... the green neutral light is on leh...

furthermore... xiaogary bro here already said he close throttle upon reaching 210km/hr.... if needle is really at that position, he'll be travelling at around 260km/hr... (since 200km/hr is in 3pm position..)

me_no_money:

dude, it'll be easier if u go for full maintenence 1st, that is, EO, plugs, air filter, oil filter, carb tuning, etc... cause u'll never know if it might be due to air filter dirty or carb out of sync, that's causing the problem. if u've not done carb servicing, then most likely it's due to that...

L model no powercut... unless ya bike buang b4, and the prev owner buy 2nd hand N/R model meter and install... then u have to remove the resistor. (if i'm not wrong.. don't take my word for it...) =p

lol what u expect man... sure wet one lah~ i don't know abt urs.. but i believe everyone's sure wet/damp a bit. can't help it one... only recourse is to use ziplock bags and put ya stuff inside loh~

oh ya... i also want to know how to remove the powercut thiing... just for knowledge. any riders here removed it themself? care to share, with pics? :thumb:
