Hi ppl, just need some clarification and hope you all can help me out. Before I say anything, just want to say that if you find my question stupid pls do not flame me as I really don't know that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

I would be going overseas for my studies for just a yr starting next yr jan & my insurance and rd tax will expire in dec. I do not want to sell my bike away as I would like to retain it when i come back after that.

My question is, do I still need to pay for insurance and rd tax for the coming yr or can I stop paying after my insurance and rd tax expires and continue when I return back while I just park my bike at home?

Also, annual bike inspection will still have to be carried out right? If so i'll get my brother/friend to help me out with it.

Hope you guys can clarify for me and thanks a million!

you can apply for laying up of vehicle at LTA.

Go to LTA & "lay up" your bike. (call the LTA hotline or check the website for details)

One the bike is laid up, you can cancel the road tax & insurance & still own the bike legally (for up to a year). HOWEVER, when you come back from overseas, you will need to TOW your bike to an inspection center to verify its roadworthiness. Once inspection pass, get your insurance & go back to LTA to pay for roadtax. Once that is done your bike can be back on-the-road.
