Usually just pay the repo/tow fees + outstanding installments should suffice..maybe a little extra thats all..but if 2 mths outstanding and they want your friend to pay $9K plus is daylight robbery..unless the $9K plus is for full settlement..

you can also complain to CASE if you suspect any inconsistency from the bike shop. :(

must pay installment then late fees storage charges towing charges and admin charges lor.... btw which shop is it?

usually can discuss these things just say u will pay up the installment plus 3 more months or something in advance cos if they repo the bike means ur friend die liao

Best is to stay clean and pay installment promptly. If we stand in the shoes of these motor tiams....we also will be pissed if ppl owes money never pay,..

from what the TS said, 9k is to settle everything. His fren owe the shop 15k plus, then the shop take in the bike for 6k plus. So the fren still need to pay the shop outstanding of 9k.

why don't sell the bike to another bikeshop or buyer who can buy for more than 6k?

1k more and the fren can go bankrupt liao...

You can't sell a bike that is under hire purchase. LTA transfer will be blocked.

It seems well within the bike shops right to demand full repayment, although the amount may be disputed.

Too many people sign hire purchase agreements without realizing the consequences of default payment.

Tough luck.

Scare tactic or not, as long as owe money, pay money. From what you have said so far, seems that your friend can hardly afford the bike.

If the bike shop has given option to pay $3k and continue the installment (another $12k), then take it up.

If he doesn't wish to ride anymore, then cough up the $9k and call it a very expensive lesson learnt.

As BlackDawn mentioned, the bike under hp cannot be sold to third party. So your friend has to make the call of what he should do.

If your friend still chose to ignore the shop, then the $9k will very fast roll into $10k (send a couple of lawyer letter + interest charges) and things can get really ugly from there.
