An a systems/business analyst, how can one gain a foothold into the finance industry (eg, banks) or better one's chances. It gets a bit more focussed since they expect the incumbent to also have knowledge of financial terms and stuff...

I would like to break into this industry, any particular short courses I should take? Would CMFAS or CPA be of any help?

Thanks.

Isnt CPA = Certified Public Account..

Got nth to do with I.T jobs also if the job scope is based on purely systems which isnt really applicable in a typical I.T job in the banking industry.

that is an MBA if i'm not wrong... it's too heavy at the moment i guess... just looking for some courses/classes that will make me understand the inside work/terminologies of the financial sector so i could have an edge when applying.

MBA would probably come later on... maybe few years into the line.

eh i mixed up the mba w/ the fin eng. at ntu... they have both courses there. my bad... but a post-grad degree at the moment is too much of an effort. just looking for short courses. and yes i am sticking to IT so why should i get too deep inside?

you certainly don't seem very very saavy for someone who wants to join a break into this industry eh?

it may not be a cardinal sin but it sure doesn't reflect very well on you as a job seeker if you're that clueless....

one last word of advice...

CFA is not a short course nor an easy one at all.... and i don't think it's has any relevance to an IT job.... the only purpose it might serve would probably be just to demostrate interest....
