my IU unit was spoilt, and my bike is running on 6volts,

so there is an additional circuit beside the IU to convert 6volts to 12volts...

so i cut the wire connecting the converter to the IU unit itself and tested with my friends 12volts bike.. and its works.

so its not possible to convert my bike to 12volts just for the IU

so what i did was buy those 9volts (rectangle) battery and connect it to a small switch and there it goes ! i will only on the switch when i need to use the IU and it works ! and best of all ! its actually portable now.. cos its running on the 9volt battery ! and i think 9volts is enough although the optimum operation voltage is 12Volts.. :)

my cheap $1.50 solution for those whose IU who might have the same problem..

bro, just a word of advise, do not try this anymore, if there isn't continuous power supply, the internal back up memory battery will be slowly drained and the pre-programmed memory will be gone. And LTA doesn't offer re-programming for IU.

*if you must, do not off the switch connected to your 9Volt (rectangular) battery, the IU unit doesn't consume much current and it should be able to last you a long long time. just don't leave your cash card inside your portable IU unit, your IU will enter Stand By mode and you are safe.

i got one useless IU sitting in front of me as i type this.

That's quite odd for unit design ain't it? even my neice's toy works on a rom. flash ram seem so prehistoric. oh well...maybe tt's lta's way of 'marketing'.

Mark Ng>> by any chance u know how much current a unit consume?
