My friend's LCD on his runner spoilt. Water seep in, and almost half of the screen gone.

I desoldered it and took it out.

Anybody knows any place where I can buy this part? The LCD works fine, expect for the white paper thingy on the right (See picture). Its something like a sticker. After I peel it out, we fix back put a white piece of paper behind it, and we can see the display, however it wasn't bright.

I believe this is some kind of like a photopaper or sth? I don know. Any LCD expert here? Can I just buy this sticky paper outside?

Any help/comments is deeply appreciate.

Hi there guys!

In the spirit of sharing, I shall post the pictures of fixing the LCD for your runner.

Here goes!

Prior to posting this, I had already removed the LCD screen (which was spoilt due to water seeping into the screen. Discoloring the screen and most of the area could not be viewed)

Take out the back housing, by unscrewing two front screws, and your mirror.

There was 3 screws, (top-left, top-right, bottom-middle) that fixed the meter to the front housing. Unscrew it and afterwhich, remove the wire attaching to the meter. The clip is infront, just press it and pull it out.

Bring it home, and unscrew six screws.

This is the dis-assembled part.

Next to the next post.

Next, remove four screws on the meter itself. This is to separate it from the back housing.

Once you remove the four screws, you will be able to turn the black piece to the side.

Place the repaired LCD into the slots. (LCD repaired by Technicolor)

Solder it!

Finished soldered product. Not sooo nice la.. but still OK. The last time I soldered it was very long time ago. Lol.

Before screwing everything, test it out first to see whether it is working well. As you can see, it's greeeeat!! THANKS TO TECHNICOLOR!!

Don't know how the heck water went in. So what I did was to fill the sides with silicone. To prevent water vapours from messing the LCD again.

End product. What you have to do now, is to just fixed every screws into the casing and you're go to go.

A conclusion is what you get when you get tired of thinking
