Hello,

I need some advice here.

My road tax expired in January 2011, and i did not managed to renew it in time. I wasn't hope much from Jan to Jun due to work and school, and whenever i'm home i missed reading some of the letters sent to me. When i realized it in June, i quickly sent the vehicle for inspection and renewal. From the best that i can remember, i paid for the renewal of road tax and inspection at the inspection center. This was right after i received a letter to inform me that i'm to attend the court for the unpaid tax, and i thought i should quickly make the payment fast.

However, something still went wrong when i just received another letter telling me that i missed the court date and i have an arrest warrant on me but they are giving me the chance to see them in 7 days to avoid the physical arrest, with another person above 21 years old as surety to bail me before i wait for the next court trial.

Any advice on what i should do now?

I am prepared to pay the fines, and it was clearly a negligence on my part for not keeping track of my own tax dates. It is my mistake. But i have some questions in mind..

1. How much additional fine am i expecting?

2. What other consequences am i expecting?

3. Tomorrow is the last day of the 7 days grace, and i will be going down definitely. However, i don't have anyone to bring except my elderly mum whom i hope not to alarm. If i turn up alone without any surety, will there be any trouble?

4. Anything else that i should prepare, or to expect?

I don't know what happened, it could be that the counter lady processed my inspection but did not inform me that i'm not able to pay for an expired road tax at inspection center. I can't find any receipts to prove that too. I thought that they probably won't let me renew my insurance without a valid tax, but apparently this is not the case perhaps.

Thank you for all your constructive advice...

Regards,

Maestro
