Insurance, NCD and discharge voucher after closed claim case?

Hi guys, I have 2 questions thats been bugging me for awhile now.

 

I was involved in an accident on 8/8/11 and following that, S.O.P, accident report, claim insurance etc.

 

In mid Dec '11, my lawyer calls me up and tells me that the I won the case, and the case is now closed and I have to sign the discharge voucher for the insurance to pay out the awarded sum.

 

Now, my questions are,

1. How long does it take usually for the cheque to arrive once the discharge voucher has been signed?

 

2. I went to look at bikes as I'm considering upgrading and when asked about my insurance and NCD, the shop couldn't give me an answer as to whether my 10% NCD was affected or not as I renewed my insurance on Sept '11.
