Hey bikers, im a total noob here.

Really need your help!

This shop is selling me a second hand bike and claims that they just need photocopy of ic and my license to process the insurance and transfer via LTA. Problem is it's a saturday and LTA closes at 4pm. I checked online and asked other shop dealers they said need original ic to process transfer.

Now because of this trust issue i decided not to buy the bike from them anymore despite havin to say im going to purchase. Can i backout at this point of time or will i be liable to any charges?

Thank you!

have you put any deposit? if haven't then just call to say you changed your mind or just ignore the calls by the shop.unless your ic and license is with them and you have sign the agreement then gone case le.btw what trust issue about the shop you worried about?

Nope, i just told them i gonna buy but i have yet test the bike and they said they changed the parts(mirror and etc) for me already. Then i asked them if they need my original ic for transfer they said dont need. My friend say this is not the case. Should i still go ahead and purchase or should not.

if you buying from shop. yes no need original ic just photo copy will do.they can transfer to you using e transfer.unless you buy from private seller and doing transfer through shop then yes you need to leave your ic behind. if you are buying from a reputable shop i believe should be okie.

If only time can roll back,i wish i can go back to my 2b times. Where bikers are friendly and helpful..

I cant see why the shop will affect transfer if there isn't a Bill of Sale or Hire Purchase agreement.

The shops are usually quite good at covering their asses.

If there isn't any signed paperwork then the thread starter has no obligation to the shop other than her word.

Are you buying on a Hire Purchase Scheme or buying the bike outright, full cash from the shop?

From what I can see, they do not require your original IC, is because they are working for you a hire purchase scheme, road tax and insurance.

If you are buying the bike outright on full cash, they will require your NRIC to do up the transfer at the LTA, not necessary during that weekend, but after the weekend. And they will untag the bike, as not belonging to the shop, so that eventually when you wished to sell the bike, you can do so on your own, doing the trasnfer at the LTA.

Hope this clarifies.
