Hey folks...

I've got a 5 year old Kips, and its time for the half-yearly servicing...

I basically need to change the engine oil, brake pads and clutch pads.

I was told I could get it done within 50 bucks in UBI. But which shop?

Any other shops you gys recommend?

And also, I was told that if I want to change the clutch pad, I would also need to change the gasket and all... That would add a huge amount to the bill, which I'm not so inclined towards. Is it ok if I just change the clutch pad without changing the gasket?

Thanks!

If you are changing the clutch pads then the engine needs to be opened up. Btw, does your clutch slips, if not, not necesary to change. Ride properly and it will last a long time. Moreover, your bike is running on 2T. Should be ok. Dun listen here and there if you are not sure. Find out more what is wat before changing anything. If not, you will be riding on a machine which you knew nothing about and become a carrot.

Anyway, if you open engine to change clutch pads, the gasket, that is in between the joinings of the engine which close together, has to be change as they are already damaged by then. Change of clutch pads comes with changing EO. So if you plan to change pads then dun change your EO first. Cos you have to change EO when changing PADS. It will cost at least 100 plus in most shop.

Brake pads about 12-15 at Ah Boy plus install. Cheaper there. Up to you to listen and choose. Their business speaks for their product quality. (You should know wat i mean). So many ppl buy from them(bikers, non bikers and shops).

Anyway, change of EO is about 15-20 depending on the oil you getting. No need to get the best one cos you are running on 2T too. Can try using maxima 4T extra or any synthetic oil that is cheaper then 20. Then remember to top up your 2T regularly before its used up. If not, your piston is ready to stop working. Then, overhaul of engine would be your only choice, which will be very expensive.

Check thru the forum to see if there is any threads on your bike, then find out more b reading thru them. The question that you asked here is too gneral and it shows that you know nothing about your bike yet. So a lot of explanation gota be done. Therefore, I dun think anyone can advised you much. Hope my time is worth something for you. Take care. Btw, pardon me if I am wrong.

One last thing, call up he shop to check out first before going down. Ride safe always.

Ride Safe Always.
