I plan to get this bike for my first bike but my friends keep telling me the maintenance is really high. I don't get it. What do you guys mean by "maintenance"? How is it high? Plus how much would the insurance be for me? I'm a 22 year old male with a 1 year+ 2B license.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for RXZ parts. Contact me @ 91736150 with details!

Hi, i am not sure what your friends meant by the word "maintenance" but from what i know is that, one need to maintain their bike by changing engine oils, coolant, spark plug and few other options to maintain their bike healthy. This maintenance can be done on a specific time for example some people does it base on the mileage of their bike while some others does it on a monthly basis. It depends on individual. If you really keen on getting the bike, then do survey around and dont rush through the whole process of buying a bike.

I personally riding one myself, am one year younger than you and riding experience of coming to four years. Insurance for me as of now is $700 plus with ntuc. So you roughly know how much does it cost for you.

Yes this bike has just about the same maintenance as others.

A good gear oil for the gearbox for about $20(fully synthetic) can last you around 3000-5000km depends on the rider. (For me every 2000-2500km)

Spark plug less than $10. Used g-power ngk.

Coolant $20? Every year change once.

Tyre? Battlax $200++ for 1 set? Can last me slightly more than a year.

These are just basic maintenance. The rest of the 'consumables' parts such as chain/sprocket, brake pads etc are extremely affordable even if you go for the top range.

Very much depends on how the rider take care of the bike and serice regularly.

Don't go cheap on lubricant (2t especially)

I've never put in my bike any 2t other than fully systhetics (i will go for ester base fully synthetic $20?)

The good thing about this bike, the 2t consumption is economical. If ride like an ah pek (mostly below 6.5k rpm), 2t can last as long as the gearbox oil intervals or even longer.

But the downside is, its an old bike and prone to wear and tear. Such as damage bearings, seals, etc.

Anyway, its worth the fun of a two stroker.

Good luck!
