Thanks for the advice. I used a bicycle foot pump and managed to get sufficient pressure to ride comfortably to the nearest tire shop. I brought the pump along just in case but never needed to use it.

Assuming you are using tubeless tires, it would be good to have a tire repair kit with you. Get yourself a set, it's just a couple of dollars, and it will come in handy when your tire has gone flat. Try not to buy those cheap sets, the tools tend to break easily. There's a brand called Sellery - it's quite decent (I'm using it) - Mustafa and a lot of other lelong shops got sell. And if you're gonna keep the kit in your bike, make sure to check the worms and the sealant regularly, and replace them if they dry up.

Or if you're feeling generous, you can get some TPS (tire protection system) sealant injected into your tires. When your tire get punctured, the sealant will ooze out from inside and fill up the puncture hole, preventing the air inside from leaking.

I drove with my bike to work and back and find out flat tire, tire was not damaged and could be repaired. Not advisable though and dependent of the quality of your tire. I had a very firm bridgestone tire which could still hold the weight. If bike shop is not too far I think it would work out. Please make sure the tire is stiff enough to ensure your rim doesn't damage.
