trade wif it.

BTW any of u guys were dirt riders before? I rode scramblers since 17 n never considered any other bikes until now

reason wanna change: wife complain when tompang

she say "u ride i drive unless u change to more comfortable bike"

I oso think my backside n knees cannot take it oso.

Still love to go trail but no time and scared later fall cannot get up so easily anymore :faint:

haiz pity me :pity:

Any recommedations looking for a possibly class 2 or 2A lah, if someone wants to exchange with my DRZ-E

dirt set up oso good, mine COE till 2022, quite powerful n damn reliable fella. Take note its a DRZ-E meaning it has a high comp piston, FCR pumper carbs, adjustable forks n shocks so its more powerful than a normal DRZ but still it has an E start and a Kick starter was installed just in case. Oh it comes with a rack too so no worries if u wanna put a box.

So back to main topic, what u guys recommend? Thanks for any informative replies :)

i was thinking of a nexus 500, looks good n powerful, what u guys think? How's the reliability of this bike?

Saw the Tmax... sweet bike but damn its expensive even if get second hand its over the 12k range

How about the silverwings?? Are these reliable?

N the sym 500, now that bike looks like beauty.

Well i wanna get a bike that i have to spend lesser time and money on it breaking downlah. Of course its dependant on

how the last owner took care of it lah. So any recommendations?

Ppl will most probably recommend the scoot they riding and how r u gonna decide? There will b too much brand for u to choose so y dun u check out the web and shortlist a couple dat u think fits your needs. Then go into the specific threads and get more feedback from the members there. Rmbr theres no perfect bike out there every scoot has their pros n cons so u need to find one scoot dat u think its best for u or u find u like it best.

Good luck to your searching on your dream scooter

Cheers

Comfort wise can consider Piaggio X10 350/500 or Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive

hi thanks for the recomd but how is the piaggio in terms of maintenance? Is it more expensive or needs more taking care of than

the burgman?

yeah, u have a point and i am doing some research on these scooters thus joined this forum to get feedbacks and see what is other's opinions on their own rides. Heh nothing is perfect but u know, we will always struggle towards it. Thanks anyway.

Oh bro i've rode scooters many times overseaslah hmmm like when i was in bali, i rented a honda vario and was riding it up to the northern parts of bali like Lovina where u can get to see the dolphins and kintamani the volcano lake crater etc and these places are over 100kms across mountain roads twisties with changes in air temp can be quite noticeble.

THat's how i fell in love with the scooter, just a twist and go, ample storage, can cheat the rain abit if its lightly raining, cheap on petrol and i felt quite safe even squeezing through crazy jammed up traffic or lane splitting and it does quite well in the twisties..... oh best of all, over there they even fix a kind of bracket for you to mount your surfboard to on the side so that u can haul the board with u to your favourite surfspots.

I am aware of the differences like ride height, braking, accelerations, cruising but scooter is hands down hassle free riding and nowadays there is so many class 2a n 2 types which is really appealing in style and power so my mind is really made up heh :)

Piaggio wise, parts more expensive than Japanese/Taiwanese makes.

But the service intervals is longer and parts last longer.

E.G 12k Belt Change vs 20k Belt Change.

Best is to bring your wife along while viewing and get to test the pillion seat.

For x10, pillion with shorter legs might have difficulty reaching the footrest.

Burgman has very comfortable rear seat. However do take note of the engine "eating" engine oil.

You can consider Maxsym 400i (cheap and good) or

Silverwing 400 (twin cylinder engine for more power, slightly lousier FC, pillion seat not as comfortable compared to the rest.. not cheap too haha..)

If MaxSym is to b consider I suggest u look at Kymco too.

Rode a silverwing for 8 yrs and its a damm good bike. But i dun think the pillion seat is not comfortable in fact I think its one of the most comfortable in the line. Being a twin cylinder its the smoothest in de class since all other make are single. Have since change to a Kymco xciting 300 last year and regretted initially cos after awhile, I cant accept a single cylinder engine after being on a twin for so long. Again after awhile I'm used to it liao and I recently traded it in for their xciting 400. I'm not persuading u to buy any bike but if u consider MaxSym then take a look at Kymco as well as its also taiwanese made. I find them both cheap and good lol...

interesting, when it comes to my scrambler bikes, i will always choose a jap due to their reliability and trustworthy performance. I really fear problematic machines or a bike with parts that are difficult to get but it seems for scooters i could be wrong. So the kymco bike u riding, how's the reliability? Parts easy to get? I saw these bikes on the road n they seem quiet fast but never chatted up an owner regarding these matters.

Chance upon this article while researching for a scoot. http://www.max.grenkowitz.net/?topic=786. Read 'The General Selection Process' n ' What Are Your Requirements?'

Generally Kymco engine quite reliable there are even ppl riding it all the way to Thailand. BMW also co-develop the engine for their scoot and it was manufactured by Kymco.

Motorsports is the agent in Singapore so parts availability shd not b an issue.

Why dont u go to their shop and understand better? U may look for Herbert or Wong and both are very nice guy. You might also wish to join our twice monthly meet up which is 2 weeks away as the last was last Fri.

Last but not least, please take your time before u decide whoch scoot is for u and avoid impulsive buy

Good luck!

that is a very informative blog, but he is of course a burgman fan of course but nonetheless still very informative.

THanks.

BTW one of the important things about my riding is, i am a hardcore lane splitter :p

i will no matter what, squeeze myself all the way to the front when at traffic lights as much as i can.

So a good question is, amongst the class 2A n class 2 scooters, which ones are the easiest to squeeze through traffic

meaning it is not wide n slim enough plus handlebars are positioned to pass by most cars mirrors without banging into them plus nimble of course. Dun want something that feels heavy to squeeze through traffic.

Do let me know, thanks in advance.

Ah yes, i've read that they build for BMWs so they must be not bad.

Maybe i'll pay motorsports a visit and take a look at them. Thanks alot.

Like e thread starter , my wife complained bike not comfy( dr650 with widened seat) so we set out to look fr a scoot. Wanted to get a silverwing6 bt ended up with e 400 instead.

As you already know, it got good storage, comfort n rain cheating panels BUT this being my first big autoscoot, the overall weight and auto trans was not great for squeezing between vehicles especially switching between lanes. E scoot feels long too.... But we stil like it very much, and e dr650se has been traded away too.

May I know which Piaggio model you are you referring to can last 20,000km belt change? Wow! I only know Silverwing last the longest.

So far I know small cc one (150-300) can last 10,000 to 15,000km only as recommended by owner's manual.

Service interval longer? Like how much? Thought it's pretty standard as any other scooter. Like 5000km oil change.

Parts are surprisingly cheap too to my surprise. That was until agent changed hands.

Italian scooter are more sensitive IMO. If you stinge on service then you'll end up with a cranky scooter. Same goes for any scooter ha ha.

Definitely class 2 scooter is alot different from the nimble n swift drz. U just cant ride the old ways u used too. But the comfort n storage is unmatched. Brought my kymco 700 cc to koh samui. Zero problemo.

I am 41. Considering these bikers. Single rider. Most important is comfort follow by reliability n parts/servicing price. Need feedback from different riders
