heh just top up some petrol from SPC, works out to be about 1.39 per litre for ULG95. It stated a total of 19% off using just the safra or SPC card.

Seems a pretty good saving for those who don't always go in to pump. Well did some maths here and there, if say from home, eg Bedok, to go 2nd link and pump, then come back, at most we save about $5-6 as compared to pumping ULG98 and about $4-5 if ULG95.

This is not including the time factor, time spent, extra fuel, wear and tear, jam, risk, etc.

But well say $6 bucks each time, and you pump 6 times a mth, its a savings of $36, about $90 vs $126

So its still up to individual.

OKie, Im bored... so am gonna show my calculation. But the below calculations are based on the current discounts offered.

Let's compare the cost of pumping full tank.

Dist to and fro 2nd link: 90km.

Amount of petrol used: 90/24 km/l = 3.75

Total Petrol used or pumped = 15 +3.75 = 18.75

Total petrol cost(RM) = 18.75 * RM1.92 = RM36

Total petrol cost(SG) = 36/ 2.3 = $15.65

Total toll charges = 0.6 + 0.6 + (2.6/2.3) = $2.33

Final Expenses = $17.98

If pump locally,

15L of ULG95 = 15* 1.39 = 20.85

15L of ULG98 = 15* 1.463 = 21.96

Savings:

20.85 - 17.98 = 2.87

21.96 - 17.98 = 3.98

Thanks to FABIAN who 1st "gai siow" (share) the info on SPC great discounts and thanks to Arsenz for the breakdown in calculations :thumb:

is it really proven that MY's Vpower and F1 is not as good even with SG's 98?

i wun say proven la... depends on what you view is better loh...

if talking about cleaner petrol and higher octane level... sg ones more la..

but a normal 98 petrol may not have as much additives as the F1 or Vpower.

but if you compare Sg Vpower and m'sia Vpower.. there is a diff loh..

just my opinion.

not proven but can see and feel..

When you pump V-power or F1 in Msia, the color of the petrol is very diluted. And the power is not there.

When you have pumped Msia's petrol for quite some time, then one fine day when u feel rich, you try pumping SG V-power full tank. Feel the difference when you twist the throttle.

Okie, if no money for V-power, can also try SG's 98. Still feels better than Msia's High end petrol.

Healthy Lifestyle walkathon at Macritchie Reservoir Trails

Date: 8th Oct 2006 (Sunday)

Time: 3pm

Place: Macritchie Reservoir Carpark

An event to enjoy the sight of the Nature Reserve while exercising through the trails. This boardwalk along the MacRitchie Reservoir brings you through interesting secondary forest in the Central Catchment nature area. The boardwalk hugs the reservoir for easy exploration of some freshwater wildlife. There are also breath-taking views of the reservoir and the surrounding forests. The boardwalk range in distances from 3 km to 11 km. Interpretative signboards along the boardwalks allow for a self-guided tour along the fringes of the MacRitchie forest.

Opening Hours

Tue to Fri: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Sat, Sun and Public Holidays: 8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

Note: The HSBC TTW is closed on Mondays except public holidays for maintenance and research.

Getting There

The HSBC TreeTop Walk is accessible from MacRitchie Reservoir Park via 1) MacRitchie Nature Trail (indicated as Route 3 on map) or from 2) Venus Drive, off Upper Thomson Road.

The distance to the entrance of the TreeTop Walk is approximately 4.5 km (1.5-2 hrs walk) from the reservoir park and 2.5 km (45 mins- 1 hr walk) from the carpark at Venus Drive. Therefore, a round trip including the TreeTop Walk is about 7 to 10 km (3-5 hours depending on your walking pace).

Getting to MacRitchie Reservoir

By Bus

Take bus nos. 52, 74, 93, 130, 132, 156, 157, 162, 165, 166, 167, 605, 852, 855 or 980. Alight along Lornie Road at the bus-stop in front of MacRitchie Reservoir Park.

By Bike

Entrance to the MacRitchie Reservoir Park car park is along Lornie Road.

Getting to Venus Drive

By Bus

Take bus nos. 132, 163, 165, 166, 167, 640, 855 or 980. Alight along Upper Thomson Road near junction with Sing Ming Ave.

By Car

Entrance to the car park is along Venus Drive, off Upper Thomson Road.

Please note that a section of Sime Track (from MacRitchie Ranger Station to Petaling Hut) is affected by a landslide. It is currently closed until further notice. Look out for the directional signs along the hiking routes.

Visitors on their way back to the Ranger Station from the TreeTop Walk will be directed to the pipeline track halfway along Petaling Trail, and then to Peirce Track.

Visitors walking on Route 4 (Yellow) and 5 (Pink) towards Jelutong Tower and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve will be directed from the ranger station onto Peirce Track, pipeline track, Petaling Trail and then onto the unaffected portion of Sime Track after the Petaling Hut.

The walk to the HSBC TreeTop Walk is graded as moderate and difficult. Due to the distance and terrain, the hike to the HSBC TreeTop Walk may not be suitable for young children and the elderly. Instead of the TreeTop Walk, you may wish to try the two boardwalk trails- indicated as Route 1 (3 km) and Route 2 (4.8 km) on the map- for a shorter but equally interesting experience in the Nature Reserves. Both bordwalks are accessible from the MacRitchie Reservoir Park.

How many people can the HSBC TTW accommodate?

For the comfort and enjoyment of all visitors, we will be restricting visitor numbers to 30 pax at any one time as well as visitor flow. The traffic along the walkway is one-way. Therefore, visitors will enter via the ranger post at Bukit Peirce and exit at Bukit Kalang and continue on to the Petaling Trail.

What can we see up there?

Instead of arching their necks to observe the canopy, visitors are now able to catch a glimpse of the vibrant “high life” of the forest at their eye level. From this high vantage point, nature enthusiasts will be able to have a closer observation of the animal community in the canopy or take a peek at the flowers or fruits of tall trees and climbers and their pollination activities.

A preliminary survey on the HSBC TTW has identified the following flora and fauna:

80 birds including 16 forest specialists. Some of these forest birds include the Drongo Cuckoo, Chestnut-bellied Malkoha, Thick-Billed Green-Pigeon, Asian Fairy Bluebird and the Green Leafbirds.

8 reptiles including the Black-bearded Dragon and the Clouded Monitor that sleeps on the Terentang tree at night

18 rare trees and climbers including the Cheng Tng Tree (Scaphium macropodum) and Cyathocalyx ridleyi.

Are there any resting stops along the 11km-route?

A Ranger Station is located at the cross road of the 11 km- hiking route (Route 4) around the MacRitchie Reservoir. It serves as a convenient resting point, with basic amenities such as toilets and a water cooler, and an information kiosk for users.

There are no vending machines or food vendors in the reserve. Be sure to bring enough water with you. Carry water bottles and snacks in a backpack to avoid attracting the monkeys and refrain from eating in their presence. There are also no litter bins in the reserves so carry your litter with you and dispose in a bin outside the forest.

There are also two shelters at the 2.8 km and 5 km mark along the route.

The ranger station will be manned from 8am to 5pm. Visitors who need assistance outside the office hours can contact our 24-hour hotline number at 64685736.
