Bro, basically there is lifespan for wiring too. If your wiring is getting old, all aorts of electrical problems will comes and go. You are wsting your time and effort. Best bet is change the whole wiring of an old bike and ride with a piece of mind. Cheers.

Go to scrap yard, buy a used car wiring harness.

It has all the automotive grade wires that you need in all colours, gauges :thirsty:

voltage definitely not a problem. the problem is where is your wiring located at? if near the engine you need to have higher heat resistant wires. you dont want your wires to melt when you are riding your bike....

I think amperage is more of your problem. If you used a wrong diameter wire i.e. a smaller one than original, you'll obviously risk overloading the wire and cause your bike to go up in flames.

Having said that, this can be prevented by looking at the original wires and choose the correct diameter ones individually.

But since you said you're a clutz, as I also am, why not try to just get a whole new set of wire harness (presuming its available). It might cost you more but saves you the worry of wrongly wiring your bike in place.

is you are worrying about amp overload, you just have to take note of what the wiring is for. if the wire is for lighting, use a minimum of 0.75mm² cable. For any other meter or signal wiring can use 0.5mm².
