hi guys, am looking to refurbish an old bike

 

basically to save costs I wanna try to rewire bck the wiring, it an old Yamaha bike

 

basically I already bought connecters, crimping tool but can use any kind of wiring, those found at hardware stores? what abt voltage?

 

some help gents, much appreciated as im a total clutz when comes to wiring part

Hi bro, best thing is to get the Manual for the bike you have.

Then lay out your old wire nicely and do take loads of clear photos, really don't miss this one or you'll regret.

Lastly be brave enough to work on it by tracing n replace them... slowly.

Advisable to go with automotive wiring. Abrasion and heat resistant. Usually many fine wires to allow for flex. Household wires will work, but if anything is near something hot, exhaust, engine, better stick with automotive grade.

Try to follow the wire color coding. If in any event you need to get some wiring fixed by the bike shop and your wire coloring code are all on your own, then it might be a challenge for them to start tracing for fault on the wiring.

 

I actually tried to troubleshoot some wiring issue on my >10 years old bike, some of the color have faded, it gives me tonnes of headache trying to trace the fault...

Yes you can use those wiring. Just take not that there are gauges. Some thicker than others for high volt/current areas.

You can consider soldering and heat shrinking too.
