Hey Bro

Just something to share with you cos 2 months back I also dealing with this whole mono rack issue. Singapore no one carry new already and unless you order from Mah motor (Givi dealer) and they charge something like $280 just for the rack. So I went online and found someone selling from UK cost 85pounds and with shipment comes to less than S$210. SO I bought but shipment never arrive, but good thing is seller is honest and claim his insurance and return me my money.

So in the end I went to Chap Lee who refer me to 298 or was it 299, that shop at Jalan Besar and they modify old Givi monorack frame and fix it for me. I also bought their conoco box as well and paid the whole thing for S$210.

So I would suggest you get the modify rack. It is also very very sturdy and strong, best part is no need to wait for long shipment and not to mention higher cost.

Hi fishtan,

thank you for the information...

Went to First Motor to get some small fairing repair done on recommendation from this thread. Impressed with their work indeed, and very reasonable charges. Had a good chat with the boss, and thinking of getting my somewhat messy cabeling cleaned up there.

I'm now convinced that I'll hang on to my Deauville and renew the COE. 2002 model with only 50000km on the clock, so the engine can go on and on and on. The only drawback with this model is the b.... expensive body parts, but First seems to be able to repair/build just about anything as you can see from this bike that they are rebuilding.

New addition to the Deauville family here.

My S4 Ver S has proved to be rather under-powered for my heavy frame. And I have been pondering over the next upgrade. Eventually, my research whittled my choices down to Fazer 600 and Deauville. (Thanks to the content of this thread)

It was by sheer luck that I came across a black FS-plate Deauville for sale in AMK. Sold my S4. Bought the Deauville and absolutely loved it to death.

Its not known as the baby ST for nothing!

While its pick-up pales in comparison to S4, its torque is more than adequate for local roads. Initially, it was a bit unnerving to see cars keeping pace with me after the green light (3 years on the S4 meant I am used to revving my ass away from the crowd right from the start.). But the Deauville's seemingly-endless torque kicks in after the 2nd gear and I find myself pulling away with grace after 10 secs or so.

After the noisy phantom and shrieking S4, its a real pleasure to hear the wind blasting past your face on the Deauville. The engine just keeps grunting surreptitiously, acceding to every twist of the throttle. I actually had more fun on this bike than my old S4. Over-taking is no longer a hit-or-miss issue. There's just enough torque in the last gear to push the bike past road-hogs, just like the ST.

Deauville's weight also provides a nice counter-balance to my weight, bringing down the overall CG. I actually felt confident enough to lean into the bends (rather than slowing down a S4 when the road starts curving...).

Still work to done on my deauville. The previous owner had apparently treated the bike as a standby until he got his hands on a 2nd-hand ST. (He gave up waiting and just bought a brand-new STX instead. )

And his neglects shows. Same old issue with the fragile fairing. There's chips and cracks here'n'there. Couple of screws are rounded out. And I am particularly concerned with some brown spots and streaks inside the fuel tank. They looked like rust to me.

One of my more knowledgeable biker pals had advised me to get this rust problem resolved asap to prevent further trouble to the fuel injection. Before I spend some money de-rusting the tank and getting the interior epoxy'ed, is there any other way to solve this?

(Apart from buying new tanks, that is.)

Regards.
