Hello everyone. It's been almost a week since I've collected my new bike. Here are some of my personal reviews. Ever since I've got my 2B license, I've been riding the Gilera Runner vxr200 for more than 1 and a half year.
Initially i wanted to get the Honda PCX (I just dig the new VFR lookalike headlamps), but after a trip down to Boon Siew showroom, i found that there are some of the features of the PCX which i don't really like. First is the width of the tyres, they're skinny. From the back view, the bike reminds me of the Yamaha Fino scooter! Secondly is the drum brake setup at the rear and the differences in feel between the front and rear levers. However, in terms of branding i would definitely choose Honda over Daelim. Pricing wise from what I've got is almost similar to each other.
So I ended up purchasing the S3 instead. Like the looks and riding position. The pick up was terrible for me at first as i was really used to the faster Runner (125cc vs 200cc...) But after riding for a while, i can say that for a 125cc bike, it's considered quite powerful(Torque is there, can cope MSCP slopes better than my Runner). Just throttle more and the hardworking engine will deliver the work, slowly and steadily... haha. I had no problems with pillions weighting 60+kg. Most importantly, i no longer have to squeeze with the pillion as compared to my Runner =).
The brake system is efficient and responsive enough for me, however, i have to be more cautious when making very sharp and low speeds turning due to the centralized braking system via the left or "rear" brake lever. Would prefer to use the rear brakes only when making such turning as it feels more stable.
Ride quality is decent. But i had the same problem as when i got my Runner, wobbling due to lower end tyres. Problem solved after switching to Michelin Gold Standard and Pilot Sport tyres on my runner. But since this is a brand new bike, i shall have them changed later and run on lower pressure as for now.
The keyless function is starting to pamper my lazyness and now i wish that i could have the same feature for my rear box! Right now i've not done much changes to the bike except for removing all the badges and changing to heavier bar balancers. I'll be installing my Power Abuser Voltage Stabilizer and Power Ignite system carried over from my runner soon and will let you guys know if the system does make any improvements. That's all folks. Enjoy the holiday seasons and ride safe. Cheers!
