  1. Please remember that very powerful lighting systems require very powerful support systems... Wiring Alternators etc.
  2. Dun worry about slowrider lah, he just likes to go around tekaning people, click on his name, then do a search on his previous posts, and you'll see what I mean. Don't take him seriously, most of the old timers in SBF don't.... ============================================ Welcome back, Slowrider, I was missing you :lovestruck:
  3. Sorry, can't go, NUS open house, I'm going to be at the motorcycling club booth.
  4. Guys. I have posted this before. Just take the sticker off a cheap old helmet and put it on your other one lah. There are no "registries" of helmets in Singapore. Your particular helmet cannot be tracked. As long as your helmet belongs to a model that HAS been certified, nobody will ever be able to trace whether its was from a batch that has been certified. Models like Nolan, Zeus, HJC etc are all ok. Just don't go around putting the sticker on Boxers or other exotic helmets.... PS I have written to Straits Times and a few other newspapers about it already, they don't want to print the story.
  5. Thanks to all the people who came for the photo shoot. We managed to get everything we needed before 5p (out cut off time from OED). A reminder that our new forums are located at http://s15.invisionfree.com/nusriders/ Sign up is already available- for a limited time I'm entertaining custom titles. Come in, take a look, our new format is better than SBF (its fully ad-free)...
  6. Just a reminder guys, the photoshoot is TODAY (THU). We'll post up the pics on the forum. I just got a new website so I can do some hosting for the club.
  7. That's often quoted but actually quite simplistic. I think my head is worth $10,000... then how? stud my helmet with diamonds? I had a long long discussion on this 3 years ago on this forum. Maybe someone can dig it up. Expensive= Good, is not always true. Example A: Remember, the top helmet companies spend million of dollars sponsoring racers, and NOT ONE CENT of that money goes into making your helmet better, BUT THE COST OF THE SPONSORSHIP is included in the price of your helmet. Example B: A painted "pattern" helmet can cost $200 more than a plain helmet of the same model. Does that extra $200 make the helmet better? Answer is a flat "NO". There is in fact one study that says mid priced helmets may be better than the most expensive ones. Its a long technical read, but if you can plough through it, it will give you a different view. The other helmets in the test included brand names like shark, AGV, Suomy and Arai. http://motorcyclistonline.com/gearbox/hatz/
  8. I got the very first set of HIDs from Limbat. It has no switch so it comes on together with my headlights. Never had any problems yet so far.
  9. I hear ya, Eagle, but this is Singapore... The logic here is that if its "random breath testing", there is no presumption of guilt- the logic behind it is that its just a random mechanical process. Its like a lottery without bias (I don't believe that tho). And honestly, I think riders who drink and don't drive really don't mind. Its the deterrance factor ("Oh, I better not drink and drive because I might get caught at a road block) that helps keep the drinkers off the roads. I'm not usually pro-police in Singapore, but I gotta support them here. I gave up drinking when I started riding, and I still get pulled over for a breath test when the strongest thing I drink is a double expresso...
  10. Hi Guys and Gals, we are preping a new forum and will transfer to it on 20th Feb. Ongoing discussions should go on in their current threads until then, but new threads can start to appear in the new one. UPDATE: we got http://www.nusriders.org If there is a particular topic you would like to see preserved you are welcome to transfer it over yourself... Suggestions welcome in the new thread in the Club Section of our OLD FORUM. http://p102.ezboard.com/fnusmotocyclingclu...opicID=23.topic New Forum address is: http://s15.invisionfree.com/nusriders/index.php? GO HERE TO SIGN UP http://s15.invisionfree.com/nusriders/inde...t=0entry55295 Just a reminder... siggys are fine but please keep them to under 7 lines of normal text, OR pictures not taller than 160 pixels. If you have both then reduce both pictures and text accordingly so they don't add up to 160 pixels higher... We're trying to keep it so that at the very least, your message text keeps up with your space... JKaiser and I have been working hard, ok? Dun play play :cheer:

  14. If people had fun, then it was good... It was a very good outing. I think everyone had lots of fun, and it was a happy occasion celebrating Ningz's first few km on a bike.... (BTW she has since told me that she pilloned her friend off campus... very brave).... I would like to thank all the first timers who came, like Wildcat and Ishiro and the guy who dun do forums (rather not mention your real name here), hope you guys had fun too! Of course not forgetting our special NTU guest star Mr BG. I would like to remind everyone else that there will be a Kulai outing on the Sunday of the week break 19 Feb-- please come join us! You can sign up either here or on the NUS forum. As long as your bike can go from Tuas to Changi, you can go to Kulai (same distance)....
  15. Simple solution is to buy some of those industrial magnets (hardware shop next to ah boy sells). Throw enough of them inside your bag next to the tank and confirm even you can't pull the bag off.... Quite cheap those...

  21. Look carefully at the car number plate... the photo is not even in SG...
  22. 70% of my bike's mileage is clocked outside of Singapore. Between last month and today, I clocked 7,000 km in Thailand and 2,000 km in Malaysia.... There are people who need HIDs. (actually, HIDs are insufficient for the kind of riding I do). Those people who blind you with their HIDs are those who have not adjusted them -- these are the people you may want to rant against. Blindly ranting to anyone with a HID just shows that you don't know the whole picture. Do come one day to take a look at my bike's lights, I have on-the-fly controls that allow me to adjust the light levels while riding... in Singapore my lights are automatically placed at the lowest position. And yes, I do have blinding HIDs coming in the opposite direction. There are means and ways of coping with them. Where you look and how you look plays a big part... I mean what are you going to do? HIDs are legal as stock in Singapore... that's the law, if you have a problem with them, please go see your MP....
  23. Someone please set timing... boh I dunno when I can go... but definitely for me will be after 4pm reach Serangoon road.
