UP for the Skipper. Price reduced to $400 for swift sale.
-
Super affordable twist-and-go scooter, perfect for your A to B commuting. A legendary 2 stoker in it's own way—break away from everyone else at every traffic light. Took over this bike from a down to Earth uncle who owned this bike for 19 years. Looks aside, do not overlook the very low mileage and the healthy and torquey engine. (I've owned a modded Runner SP180 years ago and I'd say the Skipper's performance does bring back some fond memories) I've done up the necessary (with Botak) to carry this scoot till the COE expires and have done about 300km. Fuel consumption is pretty impressive, I've gotten 28-32km/liter. Servicing details: >Tyres >Brake-pads >Brake disc (2nd hand) COE till 31 March 2014.Road tax renewed till January next year. Everything is in working condition except for the e-starter, most times kick-starts in 3-4 kicks. Reason for selling: Taking over a friend's Vespa Going at $400 firm. Viewing in Bishan. (Just had a couple of insincere buyers who withdrew last minute, so the scoot is up for sale again) Kindly contact 8111 7019 (do not pm)

I certainly will share my experiences here if I ever get into restoring this little hornet!
-
I went to Tong Aik to have my bike checked out as well. Seems like they have exactly what you bought as those are the stuff that I will need changing if I were to do the bike up. However, I was advised to ride it till the bike breaks down and tow it to the shop rather than to open things up and mess up everything. Seems like the Skipper era is up! ^^

Now that explains why it got stolen!!!!!

My Skipper's got 15 months of COE to go but I'll definitely restore it if I can piece the parts together. Everything seems to be running well on the inside although the exterior is pretty beaten up! I'll probably give Botak and Jackye a call one of these days to check it out. Thanks bro.

UPs FOR THE SKIPPER COMMUNITY.

Thanks for the reply Maldini03, I would imagine your Skipper to be very pretty to have it stolen! Aside from Botak, is anyone familiar with a motodiam that would be confident of handling a 2T '94 Skipper?? I'm considering to restore mine despite the rarity of parts, thus any referrals would be most welcomed!
-
Dear folks, I'm keen on getting on a Skipper and I'm collecting information on the current scene. Is Botak still active? Anyone has got any decent recommendations on servicing and restoring Skippers? Cheers.

Corrrect, It's like placing a $100 deposit for booking a chalet, only taking the deposit back if everything is in order. I always believe it's the responsibility of both parties to understand the details of the deposit terms.

Dear friend, Your experience is just like patronizing a famous char kway teow stall at a hawker. Being popular, there are many customers, thus there's a queue, however you as a patron is still welcomed to place an order. Note here that it's an option to pay in advance or later when you are served. Whether you pass out from gastric or not while waiting for your food to be ready is not of the char kway teow's boss problem, therefore it is unfair to put the blame on the boss with your personal issues. In your instance, you jumping right in front of the queue with your fury and rage does nothing good for both parties. Just to share a couple touch points: 1. It was with the customers consent that you made the deposit, not the shop. The rule of thumb for deposits are that they are always non-refundable, it applies to almost every form of business. Furthermore no one forced you to part with your 1 grand, you could have simple put down a hundred instead. 2. It was not right to have raised your voice in such a manner, especially to elders. I believe TA has been operating the same way for the past 30 years and they are probably be damn sure with what they have been doing. FYI. I am in very much the same position as you with the desire to have a nice shiny scooter on the road, I am also in the queue with TA to do my paintwork, I also understand that there is a waiting list for scooters which want to do their paintwork. Personally my experience with TA has been by far the best service I've yet to receive with having rode 5 different bike. Both Mdm Soh and Mr Wee are patient and accommodating to their customers. Seldom you get a bike shop that greets every customer by their name. Ultimately, I strongly urge you to take a step back and relook at things from various perspectives. You are currently in a lose-lose situation with TA and TA has Nothing to lose. I am very sure there is a solution where both parties can benefit from the situation. I wish you the best in your scootering journey.

(Repost from another thread) Hi all, Got a couple questions on PX. 1a. Other than the front disc brake, are there any differences between the new PXs and the older ones? I know the new ones have an E-start, not sure about the classic ones. Is there anything else? Engine? 1b. If the engine is different (new technology). Does it mean the engine can 'appreciate' the V power or premium fuels? 2. Which vespas actually originally come with a chrome mainstand? Just curious. I am also looking for a shop/person that can do a good respray of my PX with a customized logo. I'm only asking this because I am told by the auntie at TA they're currently full house with paint jobs. Anyone?

I know I can check with TA direct but just asking here if anyone knows. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the reply. I'm want to get a 4 stroke Vespa period, my only options are the LX or GTS/GTV. Dont see depreciation as an issue as I've no intent to sell it off even if I'm gonna drive one day. Anyone got any other recoomendations to purchase a Vespa other than ASP?
-
Have been riding 2nd hand bikes all this while. Am now looking forward to purchase a brand new bike for once. Keen to buy a Vespa GTS250. Question is where's the best place in town to do it? Good price, no hidden charges, good service etc. Have been to AS Phoon for their popularity, nothing negative to say about them, wondering if there's any other alternatives to shop around for a Vespa. NB: Will be eternally grateful if anyone can shed any light on whether or when the Super 300 is coming.
-
Can anyone shed some light on when the Super will launch in SG? Am considering the GTS250, but I'd prefer a black one!

Hi all, Keen to trade my FP Honda XR400 Aloop Supermotard with a Vespa GT/GTV/GTS. My scram is well loved, so your Vespa should be in pristine condition, >FBA plated, low mileage, comes with box and ideal to be red! Feel free to PM. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v61/paper_box/blog/IMG_0599a.jpg
-
same sentiments. i ride a FP XR4SM. just paid for another 10 years of COE, looking to sell, but only at the right price!
-
Dude, I saw your scoot at ECP last week, kudos to your bike's setup, I really dig the naked handle bar, it's so well done! First I've seen in SG.
-
exactly, im refering to this, imagine how much time you save by simply looking at the colour to know the weights of the rollers, plus the wear over time makes the small print difficult to see, its built for a good reason!
-
from a branding point of view, POLINI. The coloured rollers says everything about the brand. Malossi on the other hand I find is more geared towards racing. Products and performance wise, all the same, like Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

fierceeee siah!
