  1. Hello The cost of carnet itself is 214$. 5K/15K is the banker's guarantee which will be refundable.
  2. Thanks ki113r , Question 8: 3/4 full tank required ? 9: What do I need to know about touch and go ?
  3. Well thanks to everybody for rest to the answers. But I still need this one: as I am planning to go today and don't know which one to go to.
  4. Hi I have spent some time browsing this and other threads, but could not find a clear answer to my questions. Please point me to the right thread/page if its already there and I have missed. If there is no concise summary of these already available, this can serve as a guide for many people like me who ask these over and over; if good quality this can be made a sticky too. Moderators, please comment. 1. As a newbie in Singapore, how to go to Ah Gua lane. Google maps/streetdirectory does not show anything striaghtforward when you search. So any specific keywords to search for. Or if somebody can kindly give directions as they have in the earlier posts. Starting point woodlands mrt. Is this link correct ?? https://maps.google.com.sg/maps?q=from:woodlands+mrt+to:Jalan+Tun+Abdul+Razak+(Susur+4),+80100+Johor+Bahru,+Johor,+Malaysia&saddr=woodlands+mrt&daddr=Jalan+Tun+Abdul+Razak+(Susur+4),+80100+Johor+Bahru,+Johor,+Malaysia&hl=en&sll=1.456855,103.770035&sspn=0.066755,0.077162&geocode=FabtFQAd9KcvBilTFFOHqBPaMTG3xgElvCE3iQ%3BFXCbFgAdJSUvBikd6euESW3aMTEMRommkN1CEg&t=m&z=14 2. As a rider with a Singapore license, any specific traffic rules/laws we need to know when in Malaysia. 3. Any equivalent of Cashcard, HDB parking tickets etc. required or recommended. Else how to pay and park ? 4. How to zip though customs fastest. e.g. I read filling out the Malaysia white card upfront. How to get that card in Singapore. Any other tips ? 5. Robbers and thefts. You read about them all the time and try to be careful. But any special advice for newbies to this route lat nights? I have read that JB police is taking special care nowadays and such instances have reduced, but have they ? 6. Is language really a problem when dealing with mechanics in AGL ? 7. And we definitely need a list of good one and cheats there.
  5. Hi osxunix Sorry couldn't reply earlier. Well my budget is not unlimited, but 20- 30$ is fine with me.
  6. Hi I just bought a Phantom 200 (10 year old). I need to change the oil now. The 1st owner said he was using Castrol 20W40. The bike performance is ok with gear shift and revs etc. Now reading this thread I am confused, whether to go for Motul/Cheka/castrol and also whether mineral/snyth/fs as people have suggested mineral for older bikes and phantoms (the piston-cylinder has been worked upon a year back.) Any suggestions
  7. Thanks for the info Hydher. I purchased the phantom and Insured with DirectAsia. Hoping its not stolen before I can upgrade to 2A next year
  8. Hi All This is my first post. Just going to purchase a Phantom 200 (Apr 2002) this week. I have 13 years riding experience in my country and just got converted to 2B here last month. I compared quotes from many providers and inclined to go with DirectAsia as they are giving fire+theft too which NTUC declines (as the bike is more than 10 years old) My questions : 1. If nobody is ready to insure a 10 year old bike what happens if such bikes are stolen ? Do you get at least the remaining CoE money back ? 2. In Singapore, what is the theft risk ? (I also plan to goto Malaysia sometimes) 3. I have checked with NTUC,(ANDA is providing for Chartis and AXA nowadays),DirectAsia. Any other obvious ones I have missed ?
