haha..i think most of us are on viewing mode..

yeah the mech @ universal lane 3 good..i requested him to re-tune for me coz i cocked up my own air-screw settings initially with the k&n..

then he noticed my exhuast was leaking and correctly guessed that my carb (the rubber inside) was hardened...fixed them and test ride twiced for me..

now its perfect~! haha..anyway before i went to universal for servicing, i went to tune @ bukit batok, both mechs put my air-screw settings 7 rounds exactly from tightened position.. (my current jet size is 125, duno if this info is useful to anybody but just in case)

Ray, the 1 at BM Ln 3 is the new Bajaj service ctr. R u referring to that 1 or the 1 at BM Ln 2 which is Universal's head office and old wkshop?

So u feel ur carb is tuned to its optimal setting now? Ur bike feels better now as compared to after being tuned @ Bt Batok?

ya its the new bajaj service centre..not seng motor hup..so basically both is not bad..the important part is choosing the mech..

ya i think my carb @ its optimal already..cold start idle good, does not overheat after riding for some time, good throttle response, normal top end..

since both shops tune the same (7 rounds from locked), my bike now better is because the universal mech managed to fixed the 2 problems that are not k&n related..which bukit batok fail to noticed..

so for your case if u feel that your speed is stuck after 80, the next time u go universal should find the mech from lane 3 to change yr jet to 125 and ask him tune for u..

neat info.. thanks bro...

me still waiting patiently for 'my' filter. heee...

how much the shop charge you for installing your filter, bro?

Bro Goofy,

paiseh la... the filter took so long. Maybe you can try PM Monoworld, his filter still with me. I think he either forgot about it or decided against it.

Busy with work and gf recently... don't even have the time to think about a bracket to replace the locking device on the airbox, let alone asking the leather shop to custom make a tank bra for us. Any bro specialize in product design? care to design a bracket to accomodate the locking device?

ORD LOH!!!

its alright bro.. no hurry... will PM him. thanks

Come to think of it, I think I prefer the stock sound of the Pulsar lah as compared to the sound after installing the K&N filter which sounds like a hollow 'ong' sound :puke:

Dear All,

After 12 years on my RXZ, it began to show its old age and thanks to the bros here, bought a Pulsar 180. All I can say is, it is a big mistake! Nothing is for free. Super low fuel consumption, 1 litre oil change. Exciting new models. Cheaper spares from India. It comes with rush R&D and unsettled manufacturing resulting poorly engaging and slipping gears, weak steel, with vibration akin to shuttle reentry back to earth. Couple this with mechanics from no less than distributor level who are absolutely clueless how to fix this bike. My old mechanic is laughing at me for taking silly leap of faith on lesser known makes. My friends suggested to take huge hit and get rid it fast. Goodbye Pulsar fanboys. I am going to Cubs forums looking for my next bike.

i agree on wat he says about the workmanship of pulsars but still acceptable la. RXZ oso all made from msia nowadays new ones... u think the workmanship oso very good meh?

the gear slips i think is u neva kick the lever hard enuff la.

other than these, pulsar is a slow cruising bike which is a gd investment in terms of fuel economy and parts pricing.

WTF .....

1. NOBODY force u to buy Pulsar in the 1st place

2. NO Pulsar owner said it's the perfect bike all-round

Since u've been riding for at least 12 yrs, then the more lah u should know that every bike has it's pros n cons. If u feel u've made a big mistake in buying the Pulsar, then be a real man lah to accept it instead of looking for scapegoats.

"with vibration akin to shuttle reentry back to earth". U've taken the space shuttle b4? Then forget abt buying Cubs lah. Might as well take the space shuttle, product of yrs of American R&D. I guarantee u even Casey Stoner's Ducati Desmosedici GP7 can't catch u.

I don't have problems with the gear box :dot: , the mechanics at pulsar workshop have no problems attending to my queries. My pulsar 180 is in excellent condition.

Y dun u ask Monoworld whether u can take the filter 1st and pay him when u get ur pay at the end of the mth?

Same as, in fact better than, leaving it with Lancified to collect dust.

I have touched raw nerves here. Btw, I am not an anatomist, so what do I know about nerves. I am typing my message from the space station so I am qualified to talk about shuttle vibration like anybody else who watches TV and saw it too.

Anyway, good luck to your Pulsars. For those who are thinking of Pulsars, surf the Indian forums on Pulsars. Their views more balanced than the fanboys here. This thread have too many. I have to dump this bike after 12 months. The mechanics says I may need to overhaul the engine. But no guarantee. And this is after they change the clutch assembly. Try to live with the vibration. Its normal they say. I tried to ignore it and the screws started to unthread and all kind of clanging noise are heard. At least one screw was lost. Looks like I need to go back every other week to retighten the screws. But the indication needles will be next to go and I won't want to wait for that to happen. Other mechanics could not figure out the problems and told me to go back to the distributor for help. 2 chaps there can only lay their healing hands on the fuel tank while chatting away, avoiding eye contact. Not that I blame them, a mechanic is only as good as engineering of the bike. This bike is likely to give people a lot of trouble imho.

Bro, no one is arguing the fact that the Pulsar is a less-than-perfect bike, esp with regards to its gears. I myself am sometimes frustrated with my own Pulsar. But I don't go around blaming others for 'influencing' me to buy the Pulsar.

So ... wat I can't accept is the fact that U BLAME OTHER PULSAR OWNERS for ur 'big mistake' in buying the Pulsar. Pls lah, grow up .....

Reading ur whole list of probs with ur Pulsar just reminds me of the cliche 'It's the rider, not the ride .....'

Recently my bike fuel consumption went up drastically. From last time 780km/full tank till now around 650km/full tank.

Never changed anything to mob the engine, just ride normally, around 75-80km/hrs.

Any recommandation to rectify this problem???

Tks in advance...

The best I ever got was 750 km on full tank of 15L. Now I'm ok with just 600+ km with cruising speed of 80 km/h (85k m/h tops), tho I got 650+ km the last time around.

After installing the K&N filter, my FC looks set to improve. But can't tell by how much cos when installing the filter, my tank wasn't full. Can only give a more accurate picture after the next few top-ups.

Btw, I'm using BT39 tyres (90/80 front, 110/80 rear). If u're using stock tyres, ur FC should be better.

Sorry to the brudders if I sounded harsh. We have been seduced by Bajaj bikes sexiness. The first few months was great with people asking about our new bikes. I was glad to tell them that its a great bike with a 'minor' gear problem. Like its tendency to slip into neutral while moving off. I have to stop and step it to first gear again. Sometimes it wouldn't go into first even. One mechanic told me to rev first. It works to some extent.

But After a year the bike develop shuddering problems that makes it un-riderable. If you put it on the stand and rev hard at neutral, the vibration is strong enough to move the bike backwards. The vibration is highest at 4000rpm and vibrate throughout the whole range. Sometimes the vibration stops but soon return. There are no sweet spot I can find where the bike can be rode comfortably. The vibration can be felt on the arms, left and right legs, your bum even. The bike was trying to to shake everything loose, and it nearly succeeded. The exhaust protective plate nearly came off. The headlight lamp blew and the fairing is shaking badly now. Forum etiquette does not allow me to put in detail who I tried to get my bike fixed. Some of you tried to name the good mechanics but I think I met all of them and none of them are thoroughly familiar with Bajaj bikes. (Watch out for one guy. He thinks the 5000 km servicing is just changing oil and plugs only.) The deal with them is I can get my bike overhauled as a last resort but no promises. Their warranty is over and I am on my own. I might as well get rid of the bike - fast.

bro. how do you do your running in when u first got your bike. my fren did a hard running and yes, he got the same problem. i'm riding my bike more than a year already i dun have the problem u are facing. nor the vibration you're mentioning. when i first got my bike, i do a kiasu running in. was rididng below 60km/hr. as for my fren his block 'koyak' cos not doing a proper running in. most of them had this problem cos they forgot to realise that Bajaj Pulsar is not a speed demon. its jus a simply low consuption bike. and if previously u ride a fast or 'fast' bike than u can't do the same to Pulsar..

cheers
