Wow, at last got news of Ver3. Think i still can wait and see.

How sure are they? 'cos I went to Bajaj service centre (Bukit Merah Lane) today to service my bike (2nd servicing) and asked the people there. They had no clue. The sales staff said his boss is working on bringing it in but no news as yet as there's alot of paperwork and arrangements to be done. Honestly, I think the new version is worth waiting but how long the wait is gonna be I don't know.

i never try to hit Empty then go to pump petrol, as long as it can travel 40+km, am happy liaoz Maybe i will try this time round

Bro, 1st n foremost, didn't u take note of how much fuel u pumped into ur bike?

 

If ur Pulsar comes with engine-kill switch like mine, fuel tank capacity is 15L + 2L reserve. Everytime I fill up 15L exactly. My mileage per tank is (if I remember correctly):

1. 700L (46km/L)

2. 750L (50km/L)

3. 650L (43km/L)

4. 600L (40km/L)

 

It's difficult to estimate the amt of fuel represented by the white and red zones of the fuel gauge bcos the fuel gauge is not linear. Meaning: Let's say u clock 400km by the time ur fuel gauge shows half-full; it doesn't mean that u can get another 400km for the remaining 'half' tank of fuel. If u notice, the gauge level drops faster after the half-mark.

 

Twice, I rode my bike till it ran out of fuel. Switched to reserve to go to petrol station. 1st time, engine died with fuel gauge showing bottom quarter of red zone. 2nd time, engine died with fuel gauge showing top quarter of red zone. So, u see, difficult to judge. But definitely not 10L for white zone and 5L for red zone lah.

 

In ur case, to get only 440+km on 1 'full' tank is on the very low side lah. My current mileage since last fill-up is 408km with fuel gauge showing abt 3/4 full. So u probably didn't fill ur tank to the max. When I fill up, I put my bike on main stand so d tank is not slanted. When almost full tank, I press d pump trigger bit by bit until I get 15L exactly.

 

Having said the above, what u should take note of more is the mileage per litre of petrol rather than mileage per tank. Take note of the fuel gauge reading when u fill up. Take note amt of fuel pumped in. Reset tripmeter. The next time ur fuel gauge reading reaches the same level, take note of tripmeter mileage and divide by amt of fuel pumped in to get mileage per litre. This way, u need not bother abt how much petrol u can pump into ur tank and trying to squeeze mileage out of ur tank of petrol till it's almost empty. Whenever possible, avoid using reserve. Safer to simply fill up when fuel gauge reaches red zone.

Wouldn't an S4 belly pan be oversized on a Pulsar? The S4's inline-4 engine is definitely wider than the Pulsar's single-cylinder engine

Hi! Peeps. Been a while since I'm here. What's happening? Seems like we got more members here. So any news when we gonna do d DIY for the hazard lights yet?

 

My IU casing crack due to d bike's vibration...now kinda have this irritating rattling sound. Wonder if I haveta pay if I change to a new one.

 

D V3 kinda cool but I kinda prefer our current pulsar's design. D sharp end kinda look funny...where's d muscular look in dat. So Paiseh, got a question for u. Do u thinks it's possible to change to an LED brake light in our pulsar? Would luv to have an LED brake light an I kinda tryin to figure where to attach d hook lock like those on d RXK where u can hang ur helmet. Kinda troublesome having to lug ard my helmet everywhere I go.

 

D last time I went for servicing, I had a pickup prob. When they open up the bike the rubber connected to the carburettor was kinda deform. D mechanic infd me not to use Shell V-power. D additive in Shell V Power is just 2 strong for the rubber. It kinda eats up d rubber. If dat rubber is damaged u'll get power loss. Just some info I'd like 2 share.

yes i noe s4 is wider than pulsar. but nothing is impossible wif a few modfications. i was jus wondering if any bros did it with an s4 belly pan, so i dun have to waste time trying if it doesnt work. tanx for the reply anyway, roadrunner.

 

anyway, jus to share, there's this shop in jb which would customise body kit for bikes. fibre material. they made a vespa look like an R1. no kidding.any bros been there? was thinking of getting them to do a belly pan for pulsar . maybe one of these days when i'm free. will post "further developments" here after i check it out.

Today just went to the west part[Lim Chu Kang] was travelling on normal road ... took me 3 hrs @ 60km/h[most of the time] to reutrn bck home. Route: AMK --- Upper Thomson Rd --- Mandai Rd --- Sungei Kadut --- Kranji Dam[nice place just like Yishum Dam but rd small so cant park on the rd side] --- Lim Chu Kang --- Sungei Kadut --- Mandai Rd --- Yishun Dam --- Upper Thomson Rd --- AMK Total distance 99 km.

 

It's also my first time to try riding @ 75km/h at Lim Chu Kang. Hmmm think got to run-in more b4 i go oversea so that can ride over 75km/h. When riding expressway so stress with cars, trucks, lorries n buses overtaking me because of my slow speed[65km/h]

to roadrunner, i using caltex platinum..wana see if the techron really cleans the engine..but the fuel consumption like lesser than shell..but bike is smooth when using it..

 

to all pulsar bros out there, the previous time when i when went for servicing, the mech help me add a small screw to cover up the hole on the pipe near the engine..sorry duno wad izzit called..if u look from the left side of the bike u can see the small hole..according to him filling up the hole will have more a little power and sound a little more firece..but i cant confirm it coz servicing the bike change this change that..duno if its helping..just wana share with u all..

 

btw the v2, when on top gear the speedometer and tachometer synchronizes..even thou u can feel the gear level when u reach the 5th, but sometimes the alignment also help me to know that i reach the highest gear liao.. =)

hmm...with the digital speedo on v3..that means the IU unit must be place on the handlebar?? wonder if they will make another bracket like the 1 we are having now..

quite sad that last outing is cancelled. hope the next one will come up real soon. cant wait for all the bros to teach me the angel eyes DIY. ahakz.

 

btw, just to share some info with all you pulsar warriors, my uncle actually went thru all the trouble (boh liao hehe) to compare the petrol quality over the causeway. you see, my uncle work's as a car driver cum mechanic at a respectable company here. thus he got a lot of assignments here and there that requires him to pump petrol almost every few hours during work.

 

what he did for this research was to pour all the diff types of petrol from msia into used mineral water bottles. over there most stations only got 2 types of petrol while some got 3. petrol and diesel or leaded unleaded and diesel. so he basically took the leaded ones from all the diff companies.

 

he find that among all the cleanest petrol goes to Petronas followed by shell then esso then mobil then caltex. these are all about the same price the ones that cost about RM1.70-RM1.85 per litre. and the difference btw petronas and shell is very great. for shell and the rest, its not so big difference. he also compared it with shell 98 and shell 95 from spore. petronas petrol is about shell 98 (spore) quality while the rest are about a lil below shell 95 (spore).

 

So for those who wanna do topping up in msia, i hope this info can help you to make your choice properly. :bouncefire:
