Juz got my new 06 cbr 600 for 1 month plus, situation is hard braking at around 80-100 kmh can feel the handle bar jerking. went to the biketiam today and they did a check and say it was the characteristic of radial brake caliper (something like abs according to them) and not a disc warp, how true is that?

apparently the jerking start when i just got the bike, and thought that it was due to the brake pad not season. but after almost 2 months i decide to let the biketiam take a look.

when ride or turn the front wheel, the front wheel have got a grinding sound, and the the biketiam say its because the brake pad is new and the ceramic compound of the brake pad that caused it.

sorry i am a newbie to big bike as i have been riding sp for 6 years previously, and have been a lone ranger lolx :cheeky: kindly help :giddy:

Yar i felt the same thing when i juz collected my 05 cbr600 a couple of years ago. You sure its jerking? Mine felt more like high frequence vibrations which occasionally happens and either high or low speeds. It felt better when the brake pads break in after some time of use. Since u collected oni 1.5mths ago, give it a little more time let it break in(season) a little bit and see if it improves, chances are it should.

sorry to OT abit, what's the cons of having jerky braking ? or are the effects quite minimal ?

hi all thanks for the respone, the high frequence vibrations happens to my bike around 90-110 kmh above that its gone. the jerking is only experience when braking.

the jerky or jumpy feeling most likely might be macerena said, the brake pad are not season enough. will monitor and get back :cheeky:

Err...try a different brake technique...when you feeel the vibration...ease off the the brake a bit and apply gradual brake pressure again...prevents wheel locl under hard braking.

Hi Repsol82,

Can you confirm if the jerking feeling is felt through the handlebars? Or does the pulsation/jerking feeling came via the brake lever?

We need to isolate the problem before jumping to conclusion on the brakes or other mechanical parts.

Usually if your bike jerk violently and there's sound(metal clanking) coming from the forks, check fork seals for leaks or change fork oil to "harder" fork oil.

But definitely agree with your mech larr bro, jerking feeling when you apply brake to hard causing the calipers to lock up with your rotors...

Since you brake very hard at above 80km/h + biting power of your brake, you tend to feel vibrations of the front wheel.

Cone bearings are very unlikely coz they're there to smooth out movement of the handlebars. They cannot produce radical vibrations due to your bike's triple clamp. DO change your bearings after a while but I change mine every 30,000km or so. Cannot also feel much about them coz got steering damper.

Rarely but it happens, if your brake pads are contaminated by foreign substances like WD40, fork oil, brake fluid(careless mechanic or self). They effectively reduce your braking ability and "disintegrate" the brake pad material. The "lubricated" pads will also cause hard jerking and vibrations at high speeds. That's why it's recommended to take out brake pads if you were to clean your brake calipers and rotors thoroughly.

Try applying the braking technique I had stated earlier...big bikes usually don't need to use hard braking on the roads, more of engine braking and downshifting...unless you're about to kiss someone's backside...even then same rule apply when you take your license...except that you must learn to ease off a bit when doing e-brake at high speeds.

Yup nowadays i have been using this technique (after riding for about 3 months on a big bike :cheeky:) have to agree with rustystar that big bike shouldnt use too much of hard braking as the brakes are powerful enough.

its a fun bike to ride now  thank bro for the kind advice.
