Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post, but I can't find a better section, please pardon me...

I have some problems with my bike, tried trouble shooting but to no avail...

1st problem... my headlight doesn't turn on when my key is turn to the on position. it normally does. even revving doesn't get it on. the high beam works. I've checked the bulb and tested with another bulb. the bulbs are alright so i think there's a problem with the electrical connection. I've tried opening the assembly of switches on the left hand side on the handlebar to trace the wire, but one of the screws is too tight to be opened. Anyone can help me get me headlight on again?

2nd, I didn't ride my bike as the rain was extremly heavy yesterday. aft the rain stopped, i went to ride the bike. the bike has no power though it can still move. it jerks when i rev as though it has no fuel. so i switched to reserve and ride slightly longer, thinking that if water entered the tank, this might help get the water out. however, the bike still feels the same. could it be water entered the spark plugs area? or could it be water entered the tank?

Btw, I'm riding a Suzuki GSX 400 Impulse, quite similar to S4.

Appreciate any help given. feel really helpless.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a bike, and that's close enough.

Have you checked your fuse?

There are seperate fuses for low-beam and high-beam wirings....

Your A/F ratio tuning is out that is affected due to cold / wet conditions?

Alternatively, check your spark plug cables and caps. Cold / wet conditions may cause increase in humidity in the spark plug cable, causing resistance between the contact.

Replacement of the cable / caps may solve.

Otherwise, a cheaper and easier solution will be applying di-electric grease in the spark plug caps.

This is from personal experience.

Give it a try....

I've just checked my fuse. its working fine. so if the bulb is ok and the fuse is alright... is it some lose connection somewhere? or could it be other cases? the headlight had been working fine all along.

as for the jerky feeling, i felt less of it when i just rode it. maybe its the weahter?

thanks for helping.

Might be wiring along the way then.

At this point, I would advice you to head down to a bike shop to have it checked.

If you want a pretty good bike electrician, there one I know at Mayo Street directly opposite the scrambler shop (next to the mosque's rear entrance). He operates from a very small and dinky shop but seems to know bike electrical stuffs very well.

From personal experience, yes, weather does see, to play a factor.

See whether it happens again in cold weather.
