How to repair faulty Zip ?

Is your zipper the:

[1] big-toothed type,

[2] the very small plastic-toothed one, or

[3] with metal-plated teeth, just like what some jeans are equipped with. (not shown below)

Hmm...my guess is to go to a seamstress or a clothes-alteration shop (don't know what they're exactly called).

Need to buy the zip mechanism and then change ???

If your zip is of a special type that when the hand-operated slider completely zips to the end and can completely detach (eg.) both sides of a jacket, and if you know that you can buy a matching slider for it, you can try, but proceed with caution if you don't know how to do it.

And also if its the teeth that does not "BITE", is it becos its blunt ??

I think your "teeth" are made up of plastic, right? One cause could be because of your slider...it suffered wear and tear -- it itself probably became bent and it lost the ability to "hug" the 2 teeth (sides) together securely when you zip-up.

Another would be missing teeth?

How to repair ??

See if this works for you :)

Not too sure bro; the people there seems to only provide cloth repair and sew-on services. Maybe there's one?

Better bet is to really go to those tailors such as those found at Beauty World and enquire from there.

By the way, what happened to your zipper? Teeth missing? Unable to move?

If the metal teeth on both sides do not connect and secure themselves together, try using your fingers and with force, "assist" the slider in connecting both sides when you zip-up.

If not, your slider* may have suffered wear-and tear at its narrower end. Try using pliers to squeeze the sides of your slider together in an attempt to make it even more narrower.

If both sides still doesn't wanna lock together, squeeze the slider top/bottom. This should make both sides of the teeth meet at the same level and not one side higher, one lower.

Lotsa technical terms here but I tried my best. Sorry ah

*A slider is that hand operated thing which you use to zip up/zip out a zipper.

Yes, that wat i been doing. Too tedious already. Always use my fingers to mate the two rows of teeth. Shack. Sometimes, either its luck or the pull slider technique, the teeth still can mate but its still like 20% success.

U tried before ? ..i doubt so, the slider looks too sturdy

I think i need to find some way to repair, looks interesting. Either change the whole zip mechanism or ......... some engineering innovation :thumb:
