I am thinking to replace my current bike to this Honda CB 190 R, but I am a bit worry about the cooling system (air-cooled), did some reading on-line saying that air-cooled tends to have engine overheating issue especially during a heavy traffic as compare to liquid cool.

Does anyone could advice how bad could the air-cooled engine be when dealing with heavy traffic? I do have to travel cross the bridge to Malaysia on weekly basis (every Friday evening). The traffic is very very bad where the bike will experience go and stop for 30 to 45 minutes. Turning off the engine to push the bike didn't seem to be an option due to the up hill slope to the checkpoint.

Could anyone experience the same and riding air-cooled bike share your piece of experience?

Hi I first saw this bike actually on Tao Bao and so finally its here in Singapore.

Well, I think you don't need to worry too much about overheating. The FZ16 series is air cooled and seems to be very popular and running happily around in SG. There are also lots of cub chais in SG and Msia that are air cooled. I had a CG125 which was air cooled and didn't overheat.

My only concern is that this is a Chinese model and I wonder how is the quality. Then again, parts should be quite cheap so any repairs should not be too expensive. And if BS charges an exorbitant price for the parts, there is always Tao Bao...:)

Hi, you should refer to the other cb190r thread. I did post an initial user review there. I'm not too bothered about the cooling because I don't push the engine very hard. Air-cooled engines are generally designed to withstand a wider range of temperature, so don't worry much. The harder you push, the faster it goes, the more cooling it gets.

As for causeway traffic, I dun recall much of an upslope at the checkpoint, unless you are referring to the roads leading up to the checkpoint, which is quite far behind. In stop and go traffic, just releasing clutch at gear 1 to crawl forward is enough, no need to throttle (if you know how to control), so ur engine also wun get unnecessarily hot. And since u have bike, I suggest u make ur weekly johor trip later at night. More cooling and less traffic.
