ever wondered why we say japan coke is expensive and why the japs dont think so? to them is normal, and when they come sg, everything is cheap to them. Why not the other way around, like when we go there everything is cheap to us?

 

it's the same when you go to malaysia, indonesia, china, philippines, cambodia, vietnam, etc.

 

countries with stronger currency will definately benefit over countries with weaker currency.

We dont have big companies dat is BORN in SG ie:yamaha, suzuki, alpinstars. 99% of everything is imported frm other countries and we have to pay for the shipping fees etc if we want to buy their goods just becoz the main company is not a local company. Local distributors sells the goods taken from them pricing alrdy includes shipping. Try telling them, Internet say $100 why u sell more than $100 and get smack in the face

student working at mcdonalds as a part time here in singapore. SGD$3.50/hr = USD$2.41. crap

 

And USA Mac starting rates is at USD$7.00

 

Oh did i forget to mention they dont have CPF but they got pension given by govt? =.=

singapore's economic is build on the history of her being a free port.

Being an entrepot, hence manufacturing is a big sector of the industry.

That includes electronics, fab wafering and oil refining.

There is also alot of trade, import and export, other than investments, banking, service and tourism.

these bring thru the 60s to 80s and till now.

for the matter of yamaha, it was partly because of the world war 2 that the company has been blossomed into an mnc.

in alpinestars case, i suppose it's due to geographical reason how these kind of company are formed.

if you study about the economic of italy u might get a slight idea.

anyway, i just feel singapore focus on a different economy as of opposed to other countries as singapore is small.

else you will see lots of oil palm trees around.

high pay, high living cost.

just that you feel the living cost is high.

actually if you look at malaysia,

singapore's living cost is already quite moderate.

society and governance model differs from countries to countries.

definately there's pros and cons.

pros and cons to the citizens and also to the government.

not forgetting, culture plays a part too.

can u imagine everyone not working and waiting for pension in singapore?

Actually u're wrong, i go for annual australian surf trips, frm wat i see n experienced yearly, Their MCD prices are about the same as SG, paybe just $1-$2 higher BUT their amount proportions is ALSO bigger. Their fast foods and western foods are cheap. Me and my friend always buy only 1 Set and share. Their muffin alone only cost $2AUS and is bigger than the size of my 2 fist together. I can barely finish their western set meal which cost only $6-$7 AUS (SGD $7-$8) and had to share with frend. Surprisingly its their chinese food which we eat daily is EXPENSIVE. AUS$11 for 1 bowl of fishball noodles =) chew on that hahaha

And also these prices are considered "jacked up" coz its in a tourist attraction area. For normal residential area, the prices are even much much lower.

 

My cousin's frend works as a dumptruck bin collector, he follows the dumptruck and pours the rubbish into the truck when the truck stops n he goes collect the bin. That friend of his, owns a house. HOUSE not HDB flat.

 

Not to mention, my cousin's parents stays in 1 house, my cousin and his 1 bro n 1 sis, EACH own 1 house to their own name. =) I dun even want to ask how many cars they own, lol... and NO they are NOT rich ass, its the things there is cheap. =D

agreed... actualy if u dun talk abt the conversion from SGD to RM... it is very high cost of living in Malaysia...

 

their worker may earn like RM2000, but their macdonald meal can be RM10. For the same job in SG, we may earn SGD2000 but macdonald meal is SGD5. So, have to compare apple to apple...
