castrol R2 lousy?

ya too much smoke and the exhaust tip will get very wet if using r2. at least esso gold not so wet.

Hmm..about the coolant issue, I hear some people say, now the coolant cannot mix with water, so if I see that the coolant level is low, what am I supposed to add then?

If really must add water, tap water or distilled water? I read the manual and it says distilled water, then some people say cannot add water...so..blur ley.

Maybe some bros can clarify?

Thanks

it depends whether ur coolant is those premix type or concentrated type. if there a need always top up with distilled water

If I'm using EngineICE? is that considered premix or concentrated? but no matter the type, once its low we should top up with distilled water?

engine ice is a premix solution..

is ok to top up a bit of distilled water like 500ml..

anything more will dilute the concentation of the coolant..

is better to use distilled water as it juz contain H20 and not much any other minerals that will damage the radiator..

but is oso alright to use tap water in singapore..

cos the water provided by PUB is not hard and will not cause too much scaling..

the manual stated distilled water as some countries provide hard water in their tap..

I currently using Regina O-ring Gold chain. Not Bad lasted 2 yrs liao. Sprocket oso never really wear out. Everyday pillion dosent lengthen much oso. IMO better than DID O-ring cos DID starts to rust very fast and lengthen faster too.

But of cos u gotta maintain clean and lub occasionally. If u dont then even titanium chain oso cannot last.

if yr coolant reservoir started to go down in very short period of time like a week, time to check the coolant system like radiator cap, any leakage, coolant reservoir cap..

u can conduct a test to see whether yr cooling system is doing fine..

-before the engine is start, check that the level of the coolant in the reservoir..

-take note of this level and must be within high and low markings...

-start the bike and let the engine idle..

-try to conduct it at a less airy location if yr bike build up temp very slow(if is larger cc bike, this point will not be needed)..

-throttle yr bike abit and gently to increase the temp(for lack of patience tester :cheeky:)..

-u will notice as the level in the coolant reservoir will rise up.. if the initial level is within the high & low markings, the coolant should not be overflowing and leak out of the bike thru drain tube.

-kill the engine and u will notice the coolant level of the reservoir will reduce back to the initial level

lack of coolant in the radiator, using of higher heat rate plug, damage radiator, blown gasket etc. will increase the temp..

:)

So by right the coolant level will reduce over time right?

ya..

but very very slow..

if u like to bake yr bike under sun, the coolant in the reservoir will evaporate..

but the rate is rather slow as the water will condense when hit the top of the container and the cap and flow back in..

onli a small percentage will evaporate out from the drain tube..

so if there is no reservoir cap intact, the water level will drop faster..

i always flush my coolant annually and the level of the coolant reservoir nv drop much at all.. abt the same level as a year ago..

Folks, Many thanks for those who had contributed esp those experience riders. So other than the chain and stuffs, wht other is there fr us to take note to prevent jamming of piston and to avoid overhaul?

Please guide us along.

i know R2 is too smoky and easily wet at the TIP but its performance is still better than ESSO GOLD =p

how do i check my coolant level is ok? i dont understand by reading the above.. wat high and low gauge?

and tire pressure..

psi front and back is wat? mine is bridgestone tire.

sp no need to add coolant one la.. our 2-stoker air cool can liao.. when ur bike moves u will see ur temp drop til about 1/4 of the temp gauge.

unless u stuck in traffic jam and u stay behind the car inch slowly with them, den u will need engine ice.

since u mention that sp dun need coolant, y dun u flush out the coolant and throw the radiator away.. this will lighten the bike and reduce the fc of the bike too..
