You need to have a work or student visa for Singapore. Preferably a living address in Singapore that can be used to mail you your whatever.

And you need to attend a basic theory lesson, pass the theory test, if you have a valid Malaysian riding licence.

If you do not, then you have to attend the classes, pass the theory and practical tests, then get the licence to buy a motorcycle from Singapore.

On the other hand, if its just about possessing a motorcycle from Singapore, you have to show proof of your work/student visa for Singapore. Buy and lay up a bike at a Singapore location.

Guess this is the right place.. I'm a newbie

I just got my first pull over by a TP officer today.

I'm riding X1-R. Had a GPR pipe on. (Without Silencer)

Asked for my Insurance, IC, Driving Licence and Pipe Cert.

After checking the pipe part number, he went to write some stuff down like my name, Ic and the rest I can't see.

Than i asked if there were any problems he replied "No. Just wanted to see your pipe cert and remember to wear shoes next time you ride" Never mention anything about the silencer.

What do you guys think?

And do TP officers write down EVERY driver/rider particulars even if there is no problems?

Posted

Maybe nowdays too many diff pipes with diff sound.. And since the pipe has cert he probably he close one eye... At least he gives a good advise to wear shoes :thumb: Maybe its for his quota?

But if you're gonna get summoned.. Will the TP officer tell you what you're getting summoned for? Or.. If he sees a problem.. Will he tell you straight? or he has the right to keep quiet and just send the letter?

Posted

no lah i think he just check the cert for the pipe only.

Posted

Sighs.. I dont want to risk it anymore.. I just put back my silencer.. Though the look and sound aint there anymore.. At least i will have PEACE when i am riding.. Dont have to fear of TP pulling me over again.. =(

whether he summon u or not he still need to record your details for each and every stop made. if he did not mention anything about the silencer. most prob there should be no summon coming for it.

Unfortunately bro, the process is still the same.

Unless you're a student pass holder, work permit holder or a Permanent Resident, there is no legal way for you to buy a S'pore bike. Even if you're to get the 1-year interim insurance for export vehicles, you still need to get an AP (Approval Permit) from the Malaysian Ministry of Trade & Industry after that period. The insurance is not renewable and getting an AP means bumping the price of the bike two fold. That is, if you can get an AP.

Alternatively, you can get Kawa ER6N in Malaysia. I heard it's cheap cos it's assembled in Malaysia. Otherwise, be prepared to pay high prices for other superbikes there....

Unless you are exporting the bike out of Singapore then it is a different story. Most costs involved not forgetting taxes. Any one in here wanna advice what exporting a new/old bike from Singapore to other countries requires? Steps involved?
