If I am not mistaken, the GTS 200 doesn't feature an electronic fuel injection system, unlike the Joyride 200i. Instead it has a carburetor to do the job. In that sense, no, it isn't electronic. Theoretically, efi is better, but practically, things could go very wrong if the electronics don't function properly.

Thanks for the input. If its not electronic, then hopefully (keeping fingers and toes crossed) the problem of no fuel supply is addressed with the replacement of a new set of carbs, pump and feeder line.

i tink with the latest replacement, ur prob is solved. no more breakdown...(at least not due to fuel prob). hehe
Thanks Shorty for the words of encouragement. It will take time for me to regain my confidence in the GTS. My heart will always skip a beat or 2 whenever I need to use the middle or overtaking lane on expressway.

Mah Pte Ltd is the sole agent for SYM scooters. You can ask Ah Tar (Kenny) to attend to your scoot if you patronise them.

For servicing, there's also Future Scootering. Haven't used their services though, cos my ride's still very new. It's one of the places I'm considering. Perhaps those who have used their services can give more details.

future u can go for normal servicing like oil change. but for repairs, i suggest u try wonderful motor (botak). more honest n will not ask u to change parts if not necessary. but if u hv big pockets n wallet...n jus go to future. hehe

The name of this thread - SBF SYM Cafe 2009 / 2010 - makes it sound dated. It is, after all, 2011 and will soon be 2012. Why not just SBF Sym Cafe? Can the thread title be changed? Moderator?

I know AC Motor in Serangoon specialises in scooter. Many Swingers and Maxxers sent their bike there for repair and servicing. I have not been there but understand from the Swingers and Maxxers brothers that the boss Ah Choon is well verse in scooters.

Yesterday, I passed an ERP gantry but forgot to insert my cashcard into the IU. Still not used to the routine of inserting my card and taking it out when I reach my destination, and re-inserting it again before heading for home. Anyone knows the penalty for this "offence"?

If I'm not mistaken ... $10.00 admin charges plus the ERP rate.

Go onemotoring and check your offence number. Go AXS machine and pay. only $8.25 I think. They give $2 discount.

Yup, really pek cek! reason of buying a brand new bike is because I dun want to encounter these kind of problem but lan lan now. Anyway, is the GTS 200 a fully electronic bike with an ECU/ECM. Reason I'm asking this question is ... if its fully electronic then I am suspecting that the ECU is screwed-up and not telling the fuel pump to pump up the petrol.

Riding in the daytime -- headlamps on or off? Is there a definite rule regarding this? I see some riders with lights on and others with lights off. Lights on increases visibility but may be a drain of battery power. Comments?

Quite sure that it's required by Law to have your headlamp on even during the day. Ride bright, Be seen and stay alive is definately worth more then the price of a battery !!!

You are probably correct, judging from this article. So why do so many motorcyclists seem to be unaware of this rule? Perhaps the enforcement is lax? Will just leave my headlights in the on position all the time then.

In fact at GWS, we encourage our members to ride on high beam during daylight. You can be seen from a distant. However, at the same time when riding on high beam, you may be perceive as aggressive by other road users !

Agreed.

Turning on our High beam during the day and low beam during the nite also have other purposes.

Doing so allow us to prolong the useage of our bulb.

Care to elaborate how by switching prolong the usesage of your bulbs?

Does it mean that high and low beam bulb will wear out about the same timing if use both alternately?

Example, if always use low beam say 2 years or always use high beam 2 years does it mean if I use both I can use both say day high beam and night low beam and that will last me 4 years?

And if I use only low beam all the time and rarely use high beam does it mean that I don't have to change high beam at all? So instead I chose to use low beam instead, cause instead of changing 4 bulbs every 4 years I change low beam 4 bulbs every 4years and no changing of high beam doesn't it come to the same?

Besides I can see that you enjoy high beam in your side mirror as it helps others to prolong their bulbs and it make them safer to be seen.

With the switching of high beam during day time it may or may not be considered aggressive but rather to me its a case more to inconsiderate behavior. Because of your selfish behavior of being seen and staying alive, you irritate the driver/rider who actually use their rear view or side mirror to look out for other road user behind. Try using your high beam on bikers/driver who don't use their mirror or worst don't have one ha ha especially bike racer wannabe with no mirrors or just there for TP to see only.

Switching on High beam to be seen is a very subjective preference I think. Although it greatly enhances bikers safety but courtesy and being considerate are what every road user should practice.

End of the day, being considerate cost how much? Considerate and die or inconsiderate and live?

It's a really really fine line!

In any case, u are mistaken by my statement. I will explain further.

1) SYM GTS is using on H7 bulb. So there are 2x nos of H7 bulb (1 for Low beam, 1 for High beam)

2) Each bulb got their own lifespan (number of hours)

3) Assuming we are riding 3 hours in the day and 3 hours in the nite. Total of 6hours a day ?

4) If we use 6 hours on one single bulb, Are we decreasing the rate of usage faster ?

5) Assume that if we use 3 hours on a single bulb, Are we increasing the bulb durability ?

In FJrider comment that we should encourage rider to turn on their high beam during the daylight to increase our visiblitiy to other road user. Which i strongly agreed. IN any case, if you are not AWARE of , the brightness of the high beam during the afternoon SUN ( or in the day) are the almost same as the low beam during the nite. Do a test if you do not believe.

I do not encourage rider to on the high beam during the nite, which is super nusiance to other road user.

In another point of my selfishness view, I DO NOT CARE whether if the road user have my high beam in their side mirror (During the day) . If they seem my high beam, meaning that my presence have been noticed and they will not do anything to cause collison/accident with me. DO NOT COMPROMISE YOUR OWN SAFETY for the comfort of others .

Just for a laugh.

No rider/driver will keep staring at the side mirror while riding or driving.

In the United States, Hurt et al. (1981) found that conspicuity of the motorcycle is a

critical factor in multiple vehicle accidents. Many accidents were the result of drivers

not being aware of the approaching bike (Donne 1990). As a result, several

investigations of the efficacy of headlamps and daytime running lights as aids to

frontal conspicuity are being done. Olson et al. (1979) reported promising

conspicuity response effects from the use of modulated headlamps on motorcycles,

with the modulated high-beam headlamp being the most effective daytime conspicuity

aid evaluated.
