I'm not really sure how much fuel u are short of. I always pump to the brim and try to eliminate as must air in the tank as possible. First drop in fuel guage for me now is about 60 to 65 miles. It will hit around 195 before reserve starts to blink.

When you say "fill to the brim", what is the "brim"?

After removing the petrol cap, if you look inside, there is another smaller hole, which is about the same diameter as the petrol station nozzle. When I filled my tank today, I push the petrol station nozzle into the smaller hole. The petrol station nozzle can go in maybe 6cm into the smaller hole. In this position, I fill until "auto cut off".

Perhaps I am not doing this correctly. Should I be pushing the petrol nozzle so deep inside?

My petrol will be above that thing. And it will be touching the cap when I close it.

Thanks for the explanation.

I think I might have underfilled. Will try again.

No problem. Most of our guys are not really active here in the forum. Mostly just read and don't reply at all. We have a whatsapp group that's very active. You can pm me your number first and we can arrange to meet up and get to know more of us. We are very friendly and active in outings!

Bro Racingter:

Just got my YP400. The screen is kinda hazy, and wanna get a new one.

Can I check which online source you got the Ermax from? Do you know if it fits the new Yp400 models?

To YP400 Owners:

1. What RPM-Speed Combination are you getting? Eg:

Move off --> ??? RPM

50 kmh (stable speed, flat road) --> ??? RPM

70 kmh (stable speed, flat road) --> ??? RPM

80 kmh (stable speed, flat road) --> ??? RPM

90 kmh (stable speed, flat road) --> ??? RPM

100 kmh (stable speed, flat road) --> ??? RPM

For myself, I was getting abt 5200rpm for 90kmh, move off ~3000rpm.

2. What is considered normal temperature range?

I took bike out for couple of hours, temperature was kinda stuck at half.

3. If vbelt got a slight bit of cracking, does it mean must change already?

4. My rear sus is a bit rusty looking. Any option to upgrade to fully adjustable shock? (adjust rebound, damping, preload)

Thx all! Hope to meet up with Maj owners soon! So far loving this bike. Speed up to 90kmh seems like still going very slowly. So stable!

Bro, Got it from motoworld......

Btw, can send me a pic of the big ass filter?

hmmm.... they didn't had the rear side cowling also?? cos i was searching for it since i started playing this bike.....

was very tempted to go white and chrome too in the begining but resisted becos very scared got no time to maintain the bike's outlooks weekly....

Anyways UPZ for you!! another daring YP250 mod fellow!!:)

Hopefully there are more people out there to play with it then we can have a "Mod YP250 Club" heee hee.....

Update on this.

When refueling, I actually underfill. I should be filling all the way to the top of the small ring INSIDE the tank. I didn't do that the last time. After filling to the top of the ring, I got 40miles before fuel gauge hit 2nd bar.

Right now I'm getting a slight buzzing / ringing sound at 4500-4800rpm. It's not VERY loud, but certainly noticeable. Only this rpm. Above or below that I don't get the sound. I can't hear where the sound is coming from. At first I thought is my exhaust protector / heat shield loose. But i tightened them both up, still got the sound.

I try to put bike on center stand, and rev to 4800 to hear. Can't hear, because too noisy. Can only seem to hear when riding on the road.

Any ideas what this might be?

Thx for the reply bro! Bike definitely feels hotter than I remember my 2b scooter. But I guess that is cos its bigger engine :)

Bro PM me the ermax price. I actually prefer high windshield, but might get also get the short one for sports look :)

Another thing I realize today:

I just top up fuel till full this afternoon (insert nozzle all the way in, and pump till auto cut off). Fuel gauge reads full, but after 17.1 miles, it already drop 1 bar!!! Is the fuel gauge accurate? Or could it be something wrong with my bike? :(

I had just sent it for clutch servicing in afternoon, then right after that top up full tank. Maybe clutch issue causing lousy FC.... :(

Another update on this. Went to AC Motor, finally met Ah Choong. Let him hear the sound, within 2 minutes he say "brake disc". He then ask "is it your old pad you use until grind on disc", and that was exactly what happened. Anyway, he said actually don't need to change, but i decided to change anyway.

I watch him work. He's really quite pro. While working he removed one nut and he actually noticed that the grooves were not perfectly smooth. He then rethread both the nut and the hole. Usually I would think normal workshop will just jam it back in and force screw until tighten.

Anyway, result is new disc installed, and he was right. No more sound. No more buzzing sound anymore.

Dear all. I am a newbie here. Stopped riding more than 25 years liao. Now going to ride again. Tomorrow I am going to view a Majesty 400 at a 2nd hand shop. Info as below:

Registered - April 2011

Mileage - 34000

Owner - 1

Price quoted - $11000

Need advice here

1. Is this bike that is registered in Apr 2011 the same model as new bike now? Does this bike have ABS?

2. Is the mileage in km or miles?

3. Is the quoted price too high or reasonable?

4. What are the things to look out for? How to look / test those things?

5. What is the norm for insurance? 3rd party or comprehensive?

Thank you very much for your advice.

Good choice on a Japanese scooter.

1. Yes the bike is the same model. Just look at the tail light. If it's clear and led, it's the same model. I don't think majesty has got abs.

2. Mileage is in miles.

3. Price wise kinda on the high side. But it all comes down to the condition of the bike. 2011 should be around 9 to 10k.

4. Vibrations. Majesty tends to have very bad vibrations around the 3k rpm mark. If it is, ask if the shop is willing to change a new set of rollers and belt for you.

Look out for the temperature too. Let the bike run and see if the temperature guage will hit the 3/4 mark. The fan will be on if the bike is hot enough.

Tyres. Ask for a change of tyres if it's wearing out. Decline the brand shinko if they are changing that for you.

5. I don't know about your age. I'm 30. 20% ncd and offense free discount for Direct Asia 3rd party is $177.

Good luck on your purchase and welcome to the family!

I saw that bike before I got mine... Condition looks good! Didn't try it though.

I ended getting up a Dec 2011 Black one... After replacing the wear and tear stuff, all is good and I'm really enjoying the ride. I was riding GTS200 before.... I'm really enjoying the increased power....

Thanks d0csu for the answers. BTW, I am 49. First time own bike. So 0% NCD. Hope to negotiate the price a bit. A couple of things more to ask.

1. In the description, it was mentioned that all wear and tear are done. What does this mean?

2. To check for vibration, do I ram to 3k rpm during viewing today?

3. Temperature. What is the norm? At 3/4 mark? Where to locate the fan?

4. I am 1.66 m tall. Any problem with this bike?

Thanks in advance.

Dear Sprocketty. Thanks for the info about the condition of the bike. May I know what's the reason you didn't take the bike. Thanks.

Docsu is quite the expert (and also Norz), but here are some info I also recently learnt (newbie):

1. wear and tear include the following (but not necessary all are changed, if some stuff is still quite ok, they won't change):

brake pad / disc

air filter (3 total. Left, right, and vbelt)

tyre

roller

vbelt

oil

sparkplug

2. Vibration

I speak from experience from my 2b Scooter:

This is actually normal for the scooter. Most scooter will have SOME form of clutch vibration. However, if the clutch is newly serviced, this should be barely noticeable. If you feel it VERY VERY obviously (like something wrong with bike), you can ask them about it. Maybe they didnt service the clutch or clutch totally worn out.

3. Normally, max bike shd go is 2 bars (out of 4). If 3 bars, means something is wrong. By 2 bars, if it gets hotter, the fan should kick in to make it stay at 2 bar. You can clearly hear the fan.

4. You really need to sit on bike to test. That being said, seat can shift forward, and majesty is one of the lowest height scooters. If i sit far back on seat,I need to tip toe. But usually I just shift a bit forward when stopping, and I can rest both feet on the ground.

I didnt have my 2a yet at that time! By the time I got 2a i found another seller for a newer black one (prefer black color).

If you are 49 and 0% ncd, I guess insurance wouldn't be expensive cos of your age. Might be 200+.

1. It means they change whatever parts that are worn out to new ones. But that's normally the sales tactics by bike shops.

2. Try to ask for a test ride. A short one around the shop will do. 3k is easily reached.

3. Temperature guage can be seen in the center of the meter. Most of the time it will only stay at the half mark. For the fan you can't see it. But it's very obvious when it's on. There will be a loud whizzing sound.

4. You might want to try sitting and riding. I'm 174cm and I need some time to get used to the bike as the seat is kinda wide.
