Hey Dude!

I remember u were wearing a modular right? Can share how the feeling is compare to open and full face helmets? Also is it ok to ride with the front flip up or do we have to close it before moving off?

I nvr wear full face helmet while riding before, but tried it out at a shop before, so I can't commend on that.

Modular helmet to me is like full face, just that the front can be flipped up for convenience. But ultimately, the safest helmet is still full-face I guess. You can ride with the front flipped up, so it becomes like an open-face helmet without the visor, but you'll definitely feel the front cover/ visor catching the wind, so after a while, you'll just want to close it up.

Why I don't wear full face helmet is because I wear specs, and I realise that full face helmet makes it really difficult to put on with my specs on.

For touring go full face or flip up. You'll feel more secure and protected after a while.

I bought a flip up but kept for many years then suddenly took out to wear. At first not use to it, then gradually got more use to it.

For first time wearing full face, i would recommend a flip up. Why? From personal experience as a newbie to full face helmet, during squeezing thru heavy traffic i am so us to open face with full view, with the full face there's a lot of vision block by the chin area. So i flip up the chin to see everything like the car side mirror and stuff. Then gradually after a few months, now can don't flip up to squeeze liao but occasionally still can flip up.

Another advantage is when you want to sneeze or spit (not that you should) flip up is so convenient. During touring where you need to drink water, flip up is a blessing.

When you have a flip up i feel when you wear your helmet into shops like provision shops or other places, people will feel less threaten i guess and also you won't have to shout thru your full face. You can eat, speak, drink take photo all showing your beautiful face :D

Yes, i always do while riding, especially in malaysia where the morning air is fresh. The feeling of clean and fresh air blasting to the face is refreshing. Ahhhhhhh........................

When fully close there's a latch to lock the helmet. When fully open it will hold there firmly, no it won't close by itself.

Neo Tec is the latest offering from Shoei, now comes with built in sun visor. Am looking at this piece also but don't think i am willing to pay so much. Shoei helmet are generally good.

I am using HJC Symax but just realize recently that it doesn't fit my head.

Infact the whole range of HJC don't fit my head. Now there's Symax II and Symax III and another model i forgot.

You can look at Nolan N43 and N43E not flip up but very popular don't know why.

Must ask Shunoski as he sold one and bought another one again ha ha. Must be he found out that it's really good.

Good to know that it doesn't close by itself. Neotec has good review about it norlan oso not bad. Hopefully the neotec wont be too expensive to buy otherwise might have to settle for a pair of norlan. The one in the video is cool but too bad not a flip up. Am trying to sell my ram 4 if can get good price maybe shall go for neotec

Thanks alot bro!

For the 300cc OTR now how much?

Now trying to decide between SYM joymax/GTS EVO 300 and this Kymco downtown 300.

Wait for the new Joymax Evo lah. Coming soon. =D

SYM is cheaper than Kymco, so if you're looking at price, SYM wins!

Not necessary. Haha. SYM may have improved with their new models. I was really impressed with the JoyRide Evo 200. I thought the build quality would be crap, but it's pretty much almost the same as Kymco now.

Maxi Scooter is much larger in size.
