Oh just to add, if you don't slow down for a speed hump or even road strips, do be prepared for your steering bearing to be worn after 1yr of riding. I have to admit, it's my fault, since I hardly slow right down when going over humps or road strips. Haha. As a result, I will keep on wobbling/ making handlebar corrections while riding.

The mechanic loosen the steering cone/ bearing, which improves things a little (less wobbling now), but I can still feel the handlebar twisting feeling when going over potholes/ bumps/ humps.

The steering bearing costs S$220 to replace, which I haven't yet done so.

On another note, I find Shell Fuelsave 95 to give me the best in performance for the DT125i (engine willing to rev more). It may be different to the DT300i. SPC is the heaviest, followed by Esso, then Caltex, then Shell.

What about you guys?? What petrol brand do your use??

Huh? Really?!

I never meant that. I just anyhow shoot only, my bad :p Paiseh paiseh:cheeky:

Honda silverwing i no experience, sorry.

Too bad no test ride, if not can know how is it before purchase.

No need to be paiseh la bro in fact u are kind enuf to list out those point for consideration b4 a purchase which i have nvr tot of. I'll take it a lesson learnt. Ya if only we can test ride so we know exactly if we like or dislike it.

Not that SW is de best scoot out there but i can only compare to it cos its de only scoot i've owned. Riding posture, smoothness, protection from elements SW sure win but xciting win in terms of handling, fc, price so nobody win outright. So ur right that we must weigh the prosn cons before deciding which is for us

Cheers!

Actually i believe alot of wingers forgo dat bike mainly due to de fc otherwise its a good scoot man

How bad is the fc? 25km/L is very good imo.

My DT125i worse fuel consumption is 26.4km/L with Dr Pulley rollers. Heh.

To kongfu: You're not alone with the discomfort with the seats. Come to think of it, I really wonder how I made it to KL. Haha. Probably, the adrenaline in me helped me through.

I weigh 83kg and the seat cushion has soften already after 1yr. Super sian man. Now my knees are raised a little, which makes the seating position really awful to me. When I first got the bike, it was perfect 90 degrees between knees and legs and thigh =D Now, to ride from my house in the North to Changi Airport, can be said to be tiring liao. =(

Also, when I first collected the scoot, the vibrations were hardly noticeable. I was quite amazed. But now, vibrates really noticeably be it at stationary or when riding (especially the floor boards). Hais. If you don't wear gloves, your arm (nevermind your wrist) will hurt after riding due to the vibes through the handlebar.

Ya lor before i sold my wing the seat is still as gd as i bought it. Sure its expensive but gotta say quality is there lor.

The vibration is not that bad la but its still noticeable. I have nvr wear any gloves in ally riding yrs but now my finger aches whenever am riding. So much so i m going for a pair of RS glove liao. Serve as protection too lol

To kongfu: That's why lor, the suspension and steering bearing is something I'm quite irritated at. Haha. Perhaps for the Xciting, since it's using inverted front forks, that's why it's a nice handler. As for the Downtown (speaking for DT125i), if you treat it harsh harsh, the condition of the scoot will deteoriate pretty quickly.

I can only dread to think of how the DownTown will be like 5yrs from now under my current riding conditions. Haha.

Uncle or not, Malaysia will always welcome you to her roads for tours and sightseeing. Haha. It'll be the most fun to travel with bikes/ scoots that'll do the same speed as you're travelling.

That time when I went to KL, all the big bikes went off at 140-160kph, leaving me all alone. Haha. Thankfully, have 2 uncles behind me (at a distant) looking out for me as sweeper =D But I didn't get to enjoy convoy riding lah. But to be able to ride in the same group with the big boys is really something that I'll remember for my life!

Its different from Downtown right??

It's the same. Xciting 400 also upright fork. What you meant is the full fork (Double clamp) i guess.

Below is a pics of how an inverted fork and upright fork look like.

upper pics

An inverted fork with stanchion below (Silver metal tube)

Lower pics

An upright fork with stanchion above.

Ha ha, this is the best pics i could find.

Inverted are favored for racing as it reduces unsprung weight.

From these pics you can differentiate which is inverted aka upside down fork and upright fork.

Wat a sh1T...no chance to ride since its a class 2 scoot. On a second note, I still can't get used to the winde blowing at me after more than 1 month of riding... guess I'm too used to the protection from my old scoot liao :p

If I'm not wrong, the Xciting windshield level can be adjusted, but manually. Gotta unscrew then can move up or down. Haha.
