Hi

I've a few 'vintage' bikes with worn out rear brake lining hubs. Does anyone knows where can I get the inner steel lining hub for the drum brake to be relined with new lining?

Thanks.

Erm... may I suggest, why don't you buy brand new brake drums. Relining it may impair the braking efficiency. Also, if the brake drum inner diameter is beyond specs, your brake linings may not be able to touch the drum adequately even with full extension to give you the braking force you are entitled to.

I think you could have misunderstood my post.

The brake drum goes with the worn down steel lining. If I want to have the brake drum back to it's original specs, I'll have to buy the rear wheel.

Which is O.K with me but I can't get the original rear wheel of old bikes anymore.

So the issue is ,are there any machine shops that can re-line the steel lining of the rear brake drum back to it's original diameter?

Thanks

Oh ok. sorry about that. Now I understand what type of brake drums are you talking about.

But being vintage, you may have some problems sourcing for the drum circumference lining. Ever thought of making it yourself if you really cannot find it?

You can seek advise for the material from them. I tried to get people to fabricate PTO gears using materials they supplied before.

I can recommend you a good machinist: Chuang Aik Engineering, 3015 Ubi Road 1 #01-204, Singapore 408704

The end products were fantastic. The ATF analysis done by them I derived from their products were all favourable. But I was talking about gears. You are now talking about low impact, high stress and high heat enduring materials. Of course, this is the last resort if buying the OEM is not possible.
