You are confusing 2 things. Semi-synth and Fully-synth refer to how the oil is manufactured.

A 10w40 semi-synth is exactly the same viscosity (thickness) as a 10w40 fully-synth. That is the purpose of the weight rating on the oils. On an older bike you may want to go up to a 10w50 if it is blowing a little smoke as this is a slightly thicker oil but it makes no difference to the thickness whether it is semi or fully synthetic.

The advantage of fully synthetic is that it should maintain its highest level of lubrication for a longer period. So after 5000km in the bike a fully synthetic oil will not be broken down as much as a semi-synth and will be lubricating better still. This is the advantage with older bikes, as they are probably a bit more worn already just through use if you can afford to put good quality fully-synth oil in then it will protect your engine just that little bit better, particularly towards the end of the service cycle when the oil is due to be replaced.

Hope that helps! People seem to get the construction and thickness of oils mixed up all the time, its a common misconception.

i'm confused...

Hey guys u know CBR L model clear untill nippon seiki clock under class 2 bike how fast ?

i see myself agar agar 210kmh ? anyone knows ?

Acceleration power is not important than a good perfect braking system to prevent an accident.

there are a few grade of EO --> mineral base, semi-syn, fully-syn.

these 3 grades oso hav the same range of thickness(visocity) of EO.

mineral base EO hav 10w40,20w40,20w50,15w40

semi-syn oil oso hav 10w40,20w40,15w40

fully-syn hav 10w40,20w40,15w40.

the diff is that fully-syn can attain the thickness longer compare to other grade(semi-syn/mineral base)

u dun get best of both worlds... some tires may be good for track use and grip very well on dry roads, but tend to be slippery on wet, some tires are good on both dry and wet roads and have very long mileage, but is not suitable for track use..... so b4 purchasing any tires, get the one that suit ur riding best. For me i never play track b4, and i go touring often and i wan longer mileage, thats why i get Metzeler Roadtec Z6

so how's the grip for Metzeler Roadtec Z6 during wet conditions? i might wanna switch to metzeler after my bt104 wear out. had been a loyal supporter of battlax cuz of price but i tink its time to switch side for safety le.:cheeky:
