Hi guys,

 

I'm riding SP

 

when my fuel tank is near empty, my bike will just die off, then i have to go to the side and start and kick start liao

 

my fuel meter de arrow will "magically" go to the way to the left but there is still petrol in my tank

 

then i have to unbutton shirt and keep kicking liao, bike will start, but it will die after a few km (in search of petrol station) ..

 

any ideas what's wrong?

 

last mechanic who touched my fuel tank is the skinny malay guy at LAB, he was checking my spark plugs .. dunno if he got put back everything properly or not .. :cry:

the tank contains two straw. maybe the straw tt suck in your petrol for reseve is choked.

is the fuel knob on "reserve" or "on" position?

sp tank tend to be very dirty . try not to switch to reserve unnesssary

NSRog: the knob is in "reserve" position

 

NL27: try not to use reserve tank?

then when the main tank no fuel liao, will the engine die?

die liao, then turn on ar?

just turn it to "ON" and ride. when bike like no petrol, turn to "RESERVE".

 

can ride for some distance to the nearest petrol kiosk.

 

after refuel. turn back to "ON"

for me,my tank like almost dry also still nvr reserve...crazy tank..haha

perhaps ur bike needs a servicing?

why not u make good use of SP fuel gauage? Spore have so many petrol stations everywhere. everytime you turn the knob to reserve . you risk having problem with the bike.

i find that many SP has this problem, might be an old bike. so rusts inside fueltank. no way you can savarge it unless you chnage a new fuel tank.

try bringing it to a mech. he can use air gun and blow the straw.

i turn all th way anti clockwise, then is 'ON' . all th way clockwise is 'RESERVED' am i right ?

 

Yes you're right.. Anti clockwise is ON, clockwise is RESERVE although there's marking on that thing

think change also no use, cause sp very old model the tank more or less sure got little rust. unless you do some chemical change to it. i know its about sacrificing a metal to bring the rust over but i forgotten, sorry. maybe can go find online on various ways?

firstly, rid off the tank of rust. many ways to do so online.

 

second, pump full tank everytime. keeps the moisture out and formation of water droplets in tank under hot sun.

 

third, drain out the fuel from the exit valve at the carburettor once every three years. (do this more so if you pump at malaysia.. and if you turn on reserve many times) guess what will be out? normally its a yellowish mixture of water and petrol which chokes on ignition. so drain it out first.

Doing everything DIY that I can now.. Judging by the way things are rite now , it is for the best..

Makes you stronger and less dependent on bike shops.

Encourage others to do likewise and help new riders identify fair deals online~ thus making direct seller to buyer purchases.

Its the only way we can push the motorcycle industry in Singapore forward.
