Hi Guys, anybody can tell me how tight should we tighten the nuts securing the pipe to the engine block? Few months ago a car glazed my endcan. There was no dents or visible damage except some scratches. Recently while changing OE found out the oil filter is much hard to removed then before the accident. SO I removed the nuts to check. I am surprised that was no caskets btw the pipe to the block. Sorry, I used to ride Tzr and it got copper caskets btw them. I tried to tighten very tight but I am afraid it might damage the engine block as its direct connection btw them. Any ways to check if there's any leakage after I tighten the nuts? Any Advise? Thank you

There must be a gasket for leaks sealing purposes.. might be stuck on the engine block side.

The proper way is to refer to the bike servicing manual for the torque loading of the nuts.

Also anti-seize compound should be coated on the studs first before torque loading the nuts with a torque wrench to the specified torque.

Overtightening is NEVER the cure for leaks.

The last thing you need is a sheared off exhaust manifold stud.
