Hi , i juz laid up my bike , so i hope this info could be of help to you ....

You can lay up yr bike by registering at the LTA sin ming . Maximum period of layup is 3 years , bike must have a valid COE or PQP .

The place of layup must be made known to LTA , not sure if a public carpark is valid place.....

You must not move yr vehicle from the location at all times within the laid up period . LTA will conduct random checks , and if found violated, u will be liable for Court charges .

The laid up is free ( no need to pay LTA ) . No need to pay Road tax or insur durng the laidup period . i suppose u hv to be above 18 yrs o ( legal age limit ).

Upon expiry or at anytime if u decided to put the bike on the road , u muz renew yr road tax , a new insurance and muz send bike for inspection ,to get approval ..... NOTE BIKE MUZ TOW TO INSPECTION CTR ... not ride there !

hope it is clear info to u .

From what i know , buying a car or a bike , for as long as you have the money, and own an IC , you can register to buy one at the LTA .

When i was 17 yrs old , and without a class 2 licence , i bought a Kawasaki KZ 650 bike from a friend and i registered for a transfer at the LTA then .

Only thing was , i did not have a licence to ride it , so i parked it at my uncle's house , till i got my licence 12 months later .

i went there every week to start up and warm up the bike only .....,

and of course with proper road tax and insurance coverage .

hope it answer yr query .

O.o . Thx for that info CoolZone!

If a guy is 16this year can he possibly buy a bike?

Thanks! :D

so kan chiong for what? wait 2 years later when you are legal then can slowly buy a bike and ride LEGALLY. chances of buying the bike at age 16 and riding illegally is very high. not worth it bro, got your whole life to ride.

just my 2 cents worth.
