Was just at Minerva's today and was informed by the mech that they are no longer the distributor for Cagivas.

The distributorship is now under Mah Pte Ltd.

ermm....cagiva will still come from italy its onli that the one that brings it into SG is diff onli. Part maybe cheaper becos minerva is #@$$#%$#%#$ jacking up the price. Parts in UK is cheaper even after the exchange of currency. IMHO

The Cagiva marque is owned by the MV group (that produces the MV Agusta and Brutale).

Proton (our nothern neighbour's car manufacturer) owns part of the MV group. I was hoping that Cagiva parts would be manufactured in Malaysia so that we can get super cheap parts.

If MV/Cagiva bikes get manufactured in Malaysia, think of the cost savings!!! =)

hi guys... would be taking my tp end of this month & i'm pretty sure i wanna stick to 2b heheh... so considering whether to coi my friend's sp, or get a 2nd hand planet, or buy a new raptor125... heard a new one costs 10k+, but came without the chromed plate on the fuel tank(duh!) & uses the exact exhaust pipe as mito... does this mean the raptor125 is expected to have a beta performance than the good old planet? heard oso dat the oem mito pipes are actually made by arrow issit?

need advice here guys... if i were to buy a new raptor125 by installment, what would the scenairo be? me 24 this yr... working as a subcontractor... do i need a guarantor? read from minerva webbie dat minimum downpayment is 15%= $1500. then how much does every thing gonna add up to be every month? pls advice yoz... thanks!

and kinda paranoid on 2nd hand bikes about things getting worn out suddenly, as expected koz most of the planets are pretty old liao & had gone through plenty of owners liao too....

Y not get TESSA very good condition planet at 3k+ n use the reminding 7k to do up the bike? Of course u dont need 7k to service the bike, but i think its more worth it this way. Save $$$ n u NEVER know whether u will be contended with a tiny 2-stroker next time. Usually u Wont! Maybe u want a Ducati monster next time? LOL

haahaa... gd point! but then i dun wan to have the bike breaking down either somewhere on rd or having to go down to the service center to change out worn out parts... hmm... monster not bad wor... heard 400cc are out of production & it's pretty cheap on its maintance too! 1/2 the amount of engine oil & half the count of spark plugs to be changed haahaa... plus the timing belt too... somemore it makes the coolest & deepest rumbling sounds in the family of 2a bikes... :cheeky: not much power compared to super4 but hey, the sounds of the engine starting & idling wins all hands down liao :cheer:

once heard a red monster wit, i suspected, entirely cleared out exhaust pipe & manifold! man when the engine started i got a shock sia! very loud & deep roar then subsidised to a deep rumbling which was damn loud even though it was idling... phew!

one more question... the stock planet with stock pipe, without taking out the silencer stuff inside, the sound already like a cub liao? splitting loud instead of being pretty quiet like an original sp? so how does it sounded like after the operation?

Just want to have a quick check with Planet owners here.

My rear light bulb (brake/tail light) recently stopped working and I was thinking of getting it changed. I removed the bulb and saw that there are 2 filaments inside; a long one nearer to the bulb glass and a shorter one a bit further down, nearer to the bulb root.

The long one is a bit distorted and I figured it is blown but the short one still looks solid. Going by this, one of the 2 lights should be working i.e. tail light works or brake light works. But both my lights don't work.

I went to look at my owner's manual and on pg.134, there is a diagram of the rear light assembly. The orange wire is supposed to go to the tail light and the green wire is supposed to go to the brake light. But the wiring diagram inside the back cover of the manual says that the green wire goes to the tail light and the orange wire goes to the brake light.

I have 2 problems now: one of the diagrams of the manual appear to be wrong and I suspect my brake light switch connected to the brake levers don't seem to be working. Does anyone know which diagram is wrong or am I the one who is wrong?

As a stopgap, I have swapped the 2 wires around on the rear light assembly so I at least have a tail light. A trip down to the mech seems to be in order to fix the brake light switch and figure out what's what.

Posted

Just went through some of the previous threads and found that Minerva is no longer the distributor for Cagiva. So who should we go for our repairs now? Mah Motors? Anyone can advise on where the workshop is?

An update to my rear light problem.

I have figured out that the filament that blew is from the tail light and not the brake light. After swapping the wires around, I found that my 'tail light' is really bright, meaning that the working filament is from the brake light.

Having said that, this means the wires were connected properly to begin with. Please do take note when looking at the wiring diagram in the owner's manual because it can be deceptive. The order of connection should be blue, orange/yellow, green, from left to right if your back is facing the handlebars i.e. you are facing the backside of the bike.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot for the brake lights? Right now, I have got no brake lights when I depress the front and/or rear brakes.

Replace the bulb - $1.00

If the brake light doesnt come on, it means either:

1) Bulb's gone (remove and check)

2) Wiring's loose at the connectors (step on the rear brake pedal and wiggle the wires to see if the light comes on)

If the brake light comes on for front brakes but not back brakes:

1) Loose wiring (wiggle the wires)

2) Brake switch is gone ($40)

Same goes for the front, though the front brake switch is way more expensive.

If I were you, I would replace the bulb and wiggle the wires. Also, clean up the two connectors that touch the bulb base as they do get corroded over time.

Went down to 1st Motor to get my brake problem fixed. The bulb was replaced ($1.00) and it was found that both the front and rear brake light electrical relays are shot. Used a 3rd party front relay ($15) and original rear relay ($35). I feel the front relay is kind of expensive considering its just a small switch but didn't really have a choice since my inspection is coming up and the Cagiva agent (whoever they are now) will probably gouge me for more.

I am with Mitusi Sumitomo and I paid almost $400 for TPFT. I was considered a new rider then but was already outside the 18-25 yrs old age bracket. People I have spoke to tell me that Mitsui tend to be cheaper than NTUC but you should shop around just in case.

hey peeps..going fer tp soon la...gt any pointers...anyway... wondering la..planet second hand where can get ar? arnd hw much?:help:

The only advice other than practice is to keep cool on your test day. If you are tensed up, you will probably screw up e.g. bang curb, stall, fall off the narrow plank etc etc. Treat it like a normal circuit practice and you should do alright. :goodluck:

Used Planets are becoming harder and harder to find... According to LTA's latest figures, there are only 212 Cagivas registered in SG as of 31 Dec 04. Figure 1/3 of them are Mitos, another 1/3 are Raptors and other bigger cc Cagivas, that would leave about 70 Planets left. Price varies according to age and condition but should fall in the $4000 (v.good condition) - $1000+ (not all that hot) range. Check the recent posts as someone was selling her Planet, as well as this site's Classifieds.

I would be hard pressed to count the number of raptors in Singapore on one hand.

I would say about 2/3 are Mitos... given the young 2B riders' preference for sporty 125cc.

Of the 212 Cagivas on the road today, I would say less than 30% are properly maintained. The cost of maintenance drives many many 2B riders to skip regular maintenance and seek temporary solutions that eventually result in the bike being generally shite.

how much does a cagiva raptor cost? 1st hand & 1st party. & can anyone tell me the official dealer is at?

Im thinking of getting my hands on it

Expensive parts doesn't win you races.
