such as my signal lights ARE dropping off, my rear braking light connection is having problems, sumtimes hav light sumtimes dun, and my speedometer too is giving me problem,

1) signal lights. get from regina or LAB. can order if they dun have stock. very easy to figure out how to change the rear ones. the front ones need more work but still not hard to DIY.

2) brake lights. identify if it happens when front or rear brake is applied. most probably rear brake. trace your rear brake pedal right to the back, underneath the pivot point you will notice a tube like thing. when you depress the rear brake, the tube moves back and the brake lights up. what you have is when the rear brake pad wears off, the free play of the tube increases, hence sometimes it lights up, sometimes dun.

--- there is a screw beneath the tube, right at the bottom. loosen the nut and adjust the screw down. the nut is the locking nut. after you adjusted the screw a few notches down, tighten the nut. while adjusting, pay attention to the light. i'll try to post the pic ASAP

3) speedo.

---- needle moves but not accurate = no cure. buy new one.

---- needle dun move. most likely speedo cable broken. get new one from bike shop. or buy from Minerva and DIY. if you decide to DIY, i'll take some pics to show you too.

if you try and is not clear about some steps, then ask specific questions and i'll try to answer.

the piston engine area also leaking.

doing repairs on these area wouldn't it mean i have to

1) remove the engine oil

2) remove radiator

3) flush coolant since u are gonna touch radiator?

4) and probably disassemble lots of other stuff?!

whoa! ....:giddy:

like i say brudder, most probably only the header to piston joint leaking. so removal of header via release of the spring catches and the screws joining the header/exhaust to the bike will do.

before that, go get the silcone gasket glue. ask your mech where to buy. they dun sell it in normal hardware stores. if he got half used ones, ask him to sell it to you.

apply on the header area joining the piston and put it back on the bike. will a while for it to cure copmpletely.

if you think other areas are leaking (which i doubt) change your coolant and check the colour. if there is no brownish mixture, should be fine.

change your gear oil. any other weird colour besides the gear oil colour spells trouble. wait till then. in the meantime, post your problem clearly so we can pin point the fault.

Yoz Terry, thanks for ur help bruddah!!

i will go check it out later, u seem veri experience wit tis kind of stuff man,muz be riding for quite awhile, so r u a mech in disguise ?? :lovestruck:

ha ha ha, that's fresh!

no i'm not a mech. i dun know a lot actually. got quite a bit of my knowledge from I3stat, a former planet rider. and some bits from the experienced hands on guys at the singapore tech rider forum. i have been riding the planet for about a year actually. so i'm still learning.

plus the mito factory manual is a great help too.

if you are interested to DIY, where you will learn a lot more about your bike and hence reduce the risk of getting fleece by your mech when you need more technical help, get yourself a set of tools.

my recommendation would be to get a set of wrenches from mustafa. very cheap, very good.

WD40, lithium grease to smooth the joints of the bike and clutch cable, small torch light to put on your bike. available at your local hardware store.

spare screws and nuts from the very big screws/nuts shop behind a street of LAB.

and a good quality box wrench for the nut of the chain. for chain adjustment. size 25 if i rem.

Posted

rear brake lights. note the area where the screwdriver is pointing. underneath is a locking nut and a screw. loosen locking nut and adjust screw if the rear brake lights is causing flicking due to the increase free play.

forgive the qualit of the pics. taken using camera phone.

idling screw. for adjusting of idling (of course!)

open fuel tank up, remove the black plastic cover and wah la! your carb in full view. the screw driver points to the idling screw

header to endcan joint. i'm pointing at the area where a piece of gasket is. right inside. remove the triangular metal covering secured by two screws. 2 bolts and nuts can be seen. remove those. remove the 2 bolts holding the endcan to the bike and pull out the endcan.

oh.. this screw... i always play with it without opening the fuel area... just reach in and turn! kekeke..

Idling screw is just to increase your idling or decrease it ...

u notice how come our bike when it is stationary is still its still reving IE the engine is still running.. well thats is your idling...

if u turn your throttle more. it will rev higher right? same to this.. if u tune the idling higher, your bike , when its not moving, will be reving more. good if u encounter frequeny dying of engine automatically by tuning it higher..

tuning it higher give u good acceleration, but lower high end..

tuning it lower gives u not as good acceleration, but higher top end? this is wat i think ba. its easiler to start a bike with high idling then lower idling.. this wat i gather from experience.

well i hope i am right!

oh... header to end can not leaking... phew....

maybe we come out for phototaking session yar?! .. haha:sweat:

another area probably i dun knoe is about the 2T adjuestment area.

maybe more 2T intake would be better?.. since my engine is vibrating like hell..

adds to a more lesser chance of a engine seizure. i know roughly where the area dealing with 2t is.. but not sure which one to adjust...

haiz....

the idle screw will have no effect on high end or low end. it is for idling and idling only.

i'll take some pics on how to adjust the 2T next time. but refer to this site to download the MITO factory manual. lots of info for DIY. most are applicable to planet. adjusting of 2T, brake pedals, etc. all there. even valve cleaning.

minvera. not cheap though. one sticker costs $30 (if i rem correctly)

you can try to download a logo you like from the net, print it out and let the painter see if he can spray it on instead.

i just changed my gear oil from motul 300V (4T) to transoil expert. response from the gear box is much better as in the gears engaged faster. previous response was vague and sluggish.

so for those planeteers out there, give it a go. motul transoil expert 10w40. i bought it at HKL for $11 (cheap man) 4T costs much more.
