hahaa thanks! but then i strongly feel install the digital speedo & light is better than changing the planet's speedo lor.... cheap & good! plus u have to enter the distance covered in one revolution of the front wheel into the speedo so the displayed speed is confirm >95% accurate! to have really 100% accuracy u have to measure carefully lor heheh.

items:

cateye velo 5(lowest end model but the oni speedo up to 299km/h)- current speed up to 299km/h, maximum speed, trip distance(same function as the resettable counter on the planet's speedo), total distance and clock. auto start & auto power saving.

sigma speedo light- some work is needed to be done to remove the stock circuit & wiring to connect to the pilot light power point.

hmm... so wads next for me? hid lighting! heheh... :cheer:

Hi, just bought Cagiva Planet a month ago. Broke down yesterday when I was travelling at 80km/h (4th gear). Anyone know what could the reason be? I have just change the battery 2 days ago. So battery should be fine, I think.

hi perheps u might want to list down wad had happened & the sympthons? dun get too worried bro.... planet's the same bike as like other 2b bikes... most planets are ard 5yrs old or more, so components are likely to be worn out liao. parts are not dat cheap compared to other thai bikes, but they do last if u installed brand new. 2nd parts might be available too at a fraction of the price. :goodluck:

i once rode on PIE then heard a pop sound then suddenly bike died. hmm but managed to start again before it came to a stop. and then my mech said juz adjust idling so it wont die.. weird lei. haha.

so if press the ignition no sound, mayb wiring sot?

but since push also cannot, that rules that out i guess.

tow to first motor la, ubi there. or wherever other cagiva riders reccomend.

since its at the shop, u should sun bian service or ask mech to check other things la, then u wont have to worry every mth or so. one full check up can save u problems for like up to half a yr or so.

GranDieu,

Nice ride and looks like she's in excellent shape. How come you want to sell?

Thx!

I am selling cos I would most likely be going overseas to work for about a year. I say most likely cos I will only find out in about 2 weeks time.... :sian: I have no one I can really trust to take care of the bike while I am gone and laying it up in a motor shop is not really a good idea either... have heard some horror stories.

Dear friends,

may u all advice me, which is best to buy cagiva planet or raptor 125.... or tuono 125

thank u

It all depends on what you are looking for since all the 3 bikes are different. The Cagivas (Planet and Raptor) are fairly similar in appearance, differences being mainly cosmetic. You can call the Raptor the replacement of the Planet which is very true since the Planet is no longer in production.

The Tuono looks like a nicer Yamaha RXZ IMHO... not something I would consider since I prefer really naked bikes (i.e. no 'cover' in front) but that is just me.

The bottomline is a matter of how much you can afford. If you have the cash, by all means buy a Raptor or Tuono if you really fancy them. New bikes would definitely give less problems than a used bike. But do be aware that a new Raptor would probably set you back by about $12K and I would think the Tuono is about that price tag too.

i was actually considering a new rapter125 be4 i bought my planet. was quoted 10.5k machine price by minerva. then i thought... why not, downpayment minimum 20%= 2k then have a new bike with no worries for at least a few yrs!

but then need to add up gst(not sure included in the machine price liao), new vehicle registration fee, new numberplate fee(these 2 doesn't cost alot), and coe! think now ard 600+? and not forgetting u gotta pay the rd tax AND the insurance... in full cash(not sure minerva would do for you but if so confirm minimum muz 2nd or 1st party)! and the interest rate of i think 3% or 5% per yr, the 2k downpayment is barely enough for all these xtras & interest, not to mention the actual bike's machine price... so the complete bike can actually buy a honda super4 liao... haha plus a little change...

heard new cagiva mitos even more ex as the components are higher ended than raptor's... god noes how much's the total cost gonna be including insurance to own such a babe...

tuono125 i've seen one at my place... very nice from the front & rear view, but from the side, the front head fairing looks kinda weird... and it even has some thin bits of fairing covering the main frame... comparsion between planet/raptor125 & tuono125 is like comparing a ducati monster & a yamaha frazer. both naked bikes but one had a outlook of a completely redesigned purebreed naked bike while other looks juz like it's full fairing brother fitted with lesser fairings... depends on ur personal tastes bro!

somemore planet & raptor had an unbelievable amount of storage space under the fuel tank & legal chromed fuel tank(planet oni)!

gd luck in ur selection bro! :thumb:

asking this question on a Planet forum ...

whether to get Raptor or Planet ... depends on how much you want to shell out. Got money then get a Raptor. Being a new bike, it would be more reliable. Getting an old Planet might land you a lemon. But the depreciation for a new bike would be much steeper in the first few years.

I personally don't like Tuono, not "naked" enough... I agree with the Monster and Fazer comparison. I personally don't like Fazer too...

but the newer frazers are pretty chio! infact from the front view it looks almost like mv agusta brutale due to it's ovalish headlight! however the telescopic fork gave its real identity away... but i din c any of the new frazers on rd yet... pretty cheap too. heard costs ard 13k for a new frazer600. considering a super4 spec3 costs ard 12.5k, it's quite a steal for money! :cheer:

oh and oni the planets have chromed fuel tank plate. the raptors have black painted ones instead...

and only some planets have the chromed fuel tank. If I'm not wrong it's the older ones.

BTW, mine's a bit scratched up, anyone know how much to change the chrome piece for the fuel tank?:faint:
