Hi all, I'm currently having an issue, after just getting my bike back from the mechanic following a scheduled valve clearance and carb wash/tune maintainence.

Initially, when I got the bike back, the clutch was as I remembered, and could disengage normally. However, the fuel tube was not properly adjusted and the engine would routinely suffer from a fuel shortage under hard acceleration.

I have since been back to the mechanic to readjust the tube. However, after readjustment of the tube, I now cannot disengage the clutch fully. When pulling in the clutch lever fully, it feels like the engine is at half clutch and the bike still rolls forward. Could the adjustment of the fuel tube have affected the clutch? I observed the problem the day right after the fuel tube was adjusted.

As going to the mechanic is rather time consuming, given that this is the third time in the last month, I'm wondering if waiting another 2k kms till the next oil change to rectify this problem will have any adverse effects on clutch linings. Currently I have to depress either the front or rear brake to prevent the bike from moving off and I can feel the engine lugging. I can't help but think that it's wearing out the clutch.

TIA!

Go back to the same mechanic ASAP or change a new mechanic. the clutches if not engage or disengage properly will burnt out and you will need to replace all the clutch plates.Do you maths to see whether you can wait for another 2 months??? riding monster 400?? Not a lot of mechanic in s'pore know how to do Ducati bikes.

Yup, I'm probably gonna go back to the same mech tomorrow to see if anything can be done about it. It's more of a time thing rather than the cost but I guess not much choice there.

I liked my old mech actually, just that he takes forever to do anything. Which is why I didn't want to do this particular servicing with him.

In adjusting the fuel tube, I would assume he would have to lift your fuel tank up or remove it, yes? Assuming no clutch lever adjustment was made in the process, the only problem I can think of is the clutch cable being impinged by the fuel tank during installation.

Or it could just be a coincidence that something else decided to give way during the time you decided to perform servicing.

Yup, eventually it turned out to be a coincidence and it was really a minor wear and tear issue. So just got the clutch serviced and now everything is right as rain again.

Thanks guys.
