hi guys,

wanna find out... if i'm interested in join u guys for a long trip (this one can't coz i think too rush for me to do anything now..) how should i prepare my bike for it huh ? as i just got my bike for less than a week, some pple told me not to go overseas first before having the bike service and checkup by a reliable mechanic... what should i change or look for for such service ? any reliable mechanic to intro ?

did anyone fix a voltmeter on their ST huh ? i know the police version comes default. i was thinking whether is it nice to install those car type neon one heehee...

oh another thing... the default head light only 1 side is on right is it ? coz i remember i saw mine both is on when i collect my bike... but today notice only 1 side is on.. wonder is it 1 side burn liao...

hi BoonHean,

U can always join our next outing or gathering to know more abt ST and each other.

It gd to know more abt ur bike before going for long distance trip.

As for long distance trip best to have ur workshop to check on it tell them u are going for a long trip, they will know wat to do. Usually will be ur tyre pressure, engine oil level, headlight and signal light etc...

I did know there are a fews fix voltmeter but u have to take away the left knob which adjust ur headlight...

Default ST headlight is only 1 side, as for ur not sure is blow or default...

hi BoonHean,

those with default volt meter r 'police model'.

only P.E. model r with single head light on when switched on, also without signal light on when ignition is on.

try some shops reccommended by our guys here, u should be able to get it all ready for any outing.

hi all especially to pearlST

i have a question posed to me by a computer illiterate uncle who is keen on buying an st .

what is the fuel consumption like?

do tyres last long cos the bike is rather heavy? whats the best tyre for the equilbrium mix of grip and logevity? how much does a pair cost?

what are service intervals? is it like VFR 800 no need to do anything except regular oil changes n valve clearance every 25k kms?

how much is a valve job? cos thats the major service worry for ST1100

any problems to highlight? (other than the usual check shaft oil, coolant levels, temperature, engine oil, spark plugs etc)

does the ST11 bike run hot? i presume so cos i ride a v4 and all v engines do run hot. anybody removed the thermostat to successful effect?

he's around 173cm tall in good physical health, any problems regarding the mass of the bike and especially its inertia when parking on mainstant?

not everybody is a master of ST parking like Simon so. The tall guys need not reply here cos its different ha ha. we all just anyhow jerk can one.

btw nice group u have out there. I wish i got money then can own 1100cc bike like u all.

engine oil 10000km depends on ur riding style, high speed will be 5000km.

oil filter 10000km

air filter dirty then change

spark plug 10~20000km (stock plug)

gear oil once a year.

hi ashenZ,

engine oil & oil filter will change together at approximate 10,000km.

plugs is about 20,000km depending on condition. there r few syntoms of plugs deteriorating.

air filter also need to depend much on where did u travel. for stock air filter, the color will change from orange to dirty brown color. K&N filter will be economical to be use cuz it's re-useable.

final drive shaft oil change interval is approximately around 30,000km.

hope above all r helpful..
