hi all,

notice that my ST is quite hot, is it normal ? today was the first time i wore bermudas and sandals on my ST. after abt 10mins on the expressway travelling constantly at 90km/h during the night, i feel a lot of hot air coming from somewhere near my foot and blowing all the way up to my inner thighs.. and they were sweating ! is there a problem some where ? the temperature guage is at around 1/3 level...

and after 1 wk, i start to hear some "cling" sound from the engine when at low speed... what could be the cause ? told Asphoon (where i got my bike) this problem last saturday when i went back to collect my IC... they ask me to try come back on weekday to give them ample time to let the engine cool down to let them rectify the problem... also promise to replace 1 of the blown headlight... seems not bad... the person keep telling me no problem, they'll honour their warranty.. so far quite satisfied...

so i'm leaving my bike with them to check this wednesday, hopefully, can get it back in the evening for the gathering

hey Boonhean,

its quite normal tto feel some warm air when u ride in short...

but if u on the expressway and see that the temperature goes more than quarter or half mark(while still moving)... something is very wrong

i only experience temp up only in jam or moving through jam... but highway !!!

impossible!!!

check the bike's radiator with bike shop....

Hope u will be able to join us for gathering and we help to check with u

Hopefully nothing serious......

well, actually i experience the same thing everytime i ride with bermudas too. when the heat gets too hot to handle, i just stick out one leg alternatively to let the ram air cool it down :cheeky:

then get ready to get a smack from behind from my wife questioning my actions :sian:

haiz... women.

anyway, always have a question in mind :

anyone has ride an ST without a topbox, then went ahead to fit one..... any differences in handling on both high speed and low speed? have control problems with full load etc?

am still thinkin whether go fit up one...... *hint hint mySTic4256*

sometimes go shoppin, park bike liao, must use my limited edition of creativity to put 2 helmets, jackets and what not into the side panniers.... squueeeeeeze.....

hi BoonHean,

the cling sound could be the 'time belt' retaining cover that causes it, it's fine.

yes, u'll feel hotter than usual cuz of the nite cool. the guage at 1/3 is ok. the attached air hose bringing fresh air into the air box & warm/hot air escaped blowing ur left tight, u feel more heat cuz of ur attire. sometime it blow into my boxer :D it's normal unless u find any unusual reaction.

hi kobane,

with top box

- no load = bike perform 60% than usual.

- touring load = bike perform 20% than usual, especially wide turnings, bike tents to auto 'kup' & front steering is lighter. not so adviceable for STrr riders.. :D

Hi,

I just got my ST 1 week ago, after riding for 2days then i discover this cling sound at low speed like 1st and 2nd gear only. and this sound didnt occur frequent.. siao siao one.. But after a full servicing

1. engine oil

2. oil filter

3. spark plug

4. shaft oil

5. clutch oil pump

Total cost $150 buck, that show goes off..

Think because i change the shift oil thats why the sound goes off. Initial though is the rear brake pad knock against the rear brake disc. But after servicing realise rear brake pad is new one.

Therfore conclude changing shaft oil maybe can cure problem.

Hi guy,

anyone change the signal light to on whenever switch on the head light?

How much it cost? Motorshop charge me $30 buck for wiring for both signal light. Find it too ex. any shop to recommend? Price?

Hi Simon,

Where you bought the KNN air filter at 85 buck? wa.. the bike shop quote me $100 plus..

If you wanna race with me,

you sure win cos i dont race, i ride

My friend has left for overseas and has passed me his KNN filter to sell. Interested buyers could PM me to clinch the deal. Condition of the filter still very good. Selling the filter for $70/(nett).

Normen11,

ever success.(small road lane between mustafa & rowell road)

but with K&N filter the performance not really that ideal, but can save $$ every 2-4 times a year(depending on how use it).

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

Sorry.. forgot to add one more stuff.

Let me breakdown again for my $150 servicing.

1) engine oil 4 bottles - $52 using motul 5100 (Semi Synth.)

2) oil filter - $15

3) spark plug 4 pcs - $40

4) shaft oil - $6 (Buy from car shop and service free from bike shop) Spec. SAE90

5) clutch service - $10

6) 2 pair of Front Brake Pad - $18 Each (total $36)

Total $153 exclude the Shaft oil $6. Bargain to $150..hee

After servicing, the thing have improve.

First is the clinging sound from the left rear side goes off. No more clinging sound during riding at low gear or low speed (10 to 20km/hr) or 1st - 2nd gear.

Second is the engine, every time rpm at 1.8 to 2.4, the engine will produce the sound like no power and vibrate abit. Now all the problem goes off with the servicing.

Just like to give advice to rider buying 2nd hand bike. Do a normal servicing after buying from owner or shop and you can see the real performance of the bike after servicing. If problem still occur.. lan lan.. hee :goodluck:

boon hean,

that could be because the thermostate has been changed to on the fan at half temp.. its a good thing..

it's the original state of the thermostat switch to activate when the temperature rises to 1/2 or slightly higher, it's fine unless ur fan doesnt work.

another alternative to activate the fan SLIGHTLY earlier is replace it to a S4 thermostat switch. after market thermostat switch perform at other other heat range which r not recommended.

explaination is very simple, other components might not be able to take it after the 'after market's modification' other than from the manufacturer(honda) if ur cooler fan continue blowing beyond from 1/4 - 1/2 or higher mark when u r sandwitched between traffic for over an hour with few meter movement at every minute, & situation which u cant simply switch off engine to push along with the traffic..? by then ur battery & it's buddy (alternator) will.........................
