hi whats the diff between 7100 4T 20W50 7100 4T 10W40

i mean as in, 10w40 and 20w50 or 15w20 stuffs like that

From the way i understand, the first number is how well the viscosity is when cold and the second number is the viscosity when hot.

 

So in other words, the 10W40 is easier to start in the morning but the 20W50 gives more protection when hot. I do not really know how to put it in more detail as chemistry is not my thing. Don't flame me pls.

2 stroke bikes i recommend should use gear oil instead of engine oil.

 

2 stroke--> Gear oil and 2 stroke engine oil

4 stroke--> 4 stroke engine oil

w=winter..so 10w viscosity is lower used in lower temp compared to 20w..ie meant for use in winter.

 

the other 40 or 50 refers to SAE standards.. 50 viscosity is thicker/higer than 40..

in singapre context..sae 40 is the reccomended for normal operations..

for extreme cases 50 or higher sae no. may be used..

20w50...this is a multigrade oil..means oil can respond to various temperature

and still maintain correct/sufficient viscosity, properties for engine

 

What is the normal operating temperature of an engine? Confirmed over 100 degrees Celsius?

 

Because in my manual, 10W40 is from -10C to 45C and 20W50 is from 5C to 50C. What does this temperature range actually mean?

they juz state the temp as facts wifout consider the realistic of the value..

but i think desert can reach that high in the day..
