Hey everyone, I recently encountered the following issue with my bike.

I am riding a brand new sports bike cbr600 which is only 11 months old. Recently i had gone to change my tires and whilst doing wheel balancing, the mechanic discovered that both my rims are not very straight. I was shocked upon hearing this as i have never accident my bike and also have not dropped it before. Never tracked the bike too. I also did not suspect that the slight vibration on my handle bar was normal thus i only realised it when my wheel was sent for balancing. My bike mileage is under 20000km mileage.

I called up the shop from which i had bought the bike from and he told me that its not his liabilty and rims are not under warranty. He told me that it could have gotten dented when the bike could have hit a pot hole. (The salesperson on the phone was also quite rude and hung up the phone on me!) lol.

Even though pot holes on the road might cause a rim to dent, how is it possible that both my rims are dented?

Any one came across such a situation before?

What can i do?

Bro,

Bring to another reputable shop and do a check on your rims.

If they are really dent, Just get it to press back.

You don't need to change a new set of rims.

Only can blame it on your luck, as ur dealer will not compensate.

They have a the documents to protect them in case of anytin.

Gd luck buddy~

Not damaged during wheel balancing or removal right?

If both rims are uniformly bent then it points to physical stress incurred when the bike was shipped to Singapore, a long long time ago. Or gross mishandling during storage before the sale to you.

It's a bit difficult to generate such uniform damage even in an accident. Impossible to damage the rim in riding as well in this manner due to the constantly spinning wheels. Upset rim = crash immediately.

Unfortunately in this case the original vendor of the vehicle may not be liable at all for this discovery as the goods had already changed hands to yourself. Unless the machine were still under warranty (and to what extent is the warranty - can we regard this as 'material defect?').

bring over to another bike shop to do balancing....if confirm bent, then got excuse to change to another rim......forget about vendor compensation, they will never admit liabilty....

Thanks guys for the feedbacks. Its been a good learning lesson to check the wheel. Surely know already cannot get compensation from the dealer.

Any idea how much is it to press?

I have never changed rims before, any idea how much a brand new set could cost? I was told its over 1k.

Any one tried the galespeed rims? any rough cost?
