Thai Trip: Hatyai or Betong or Golok?

Hi guys thinking of going to Thailand.

 

was thinking of renting a nice comfortable car say Camry/Xtrail/CRV, and make an overnite trip.

anyone keane to go?

 

Hatyai is via Kedah.

Betong via Perak.

Golok via Kelantan.

 

Personally, i hv bn to Hatyai, and wld like to go Golok.

But got to read info on Betong, and find dat it is not bad or even better than Golok.

I suppose time is of the essence here, hence distance/travelling time plays a significant part. Basically would like to go thr n check out the place.

 

Which would b d best option? any advice from those who hv bn thr?

From the above, distance from Johor to tip of Perak(before entering Betong)

is 763km. Time taken is 8 hrs 41mins.

For Hatyai, the distance and time from Johor to Jitra is about 800km and 8.5hrs.

If go to Golok, distance from Johor to Rantau Panjang is 760 km, but time taken is longer 11hours!

Hat Yai - I ride there once, not familiar with point of interest, but should be alot. anyway, you been there..

Betong - I ride there once as well, nice and relax, much less traffic (car or bike) to there, easy route as NSHW all the way till after Ipoh. Many places to see, refer to the Betong Info post

Golok - Never been there. if you go there, do post a trip report

you might not be able to drive the rented car into Thailand due to their car import laws which requires all foreign vehicles to have their log papers with them
