Internet Explorer 9 is coming

The "sample-it-before-release" IE9 beta version was downloaded 20 million times; seems Microsoft is not done challenging other internet browsers.

The newest iteration of the world's most used Internet browser, Internet Explorer 9, is going to be released soon. Development of this browser comes amidst the time where many others were enjoying or have switched to Firefox, some to Google Chrome, a handful on Apple Safari (on their Macintosh computers), and amongst other variants.

 

Despite that, the team at Microsoft Windows has proudly declared that IE9 beta - beta meaning unfinished product that users can sample and try - has been downloaded 20 million times.

 

Currently, this is the user-base for the world's major browsers. It shows how many people are using what browser:

 

34% use Internet Explorer 8 (surprise!)

19% use Firefox

7.3% use Google Chrome

3.2% use Apple Safari

15% decided to go for other variants (i.e.: Opera, etc)

Rumor has it that they are going to release it at the end of January 2011, but there's no solid news yet.
