Anyway to modify ur rack?

Got a free rack from my bike shop for spec3, but the rack was 'chiong' one, thus very high (as in the height) making it look very strange...

 

Any1 got any idea weather can i cut the portion tats vertical shorter? follow by a drill to fit in the nut for screw..??

 

Any1 doen it before?

Something like the red ones i circle.. tat part is way too long.. needa cut it but dunno if a normal drill can drill a hole inbetween for the nut nt.. or is it advisable to do tat??

can be done if your skill is really very power cos the aligment has to be correct in order to slot in the nut.

If u ever fitted new racks, the 2 pieces of metal extending from the bike body til the part u circled in red is actually juz hollow metal. The silver tiltable part which will hold the base is juz hammered onto the 2 pieces of metal.

If u really wana shorten it, it is definitely possible. Juz have to remove the box, the plate n the 2 silver part.

Wat i did was to actually SAW the 2 ends.. haha.. then borrow drills from shops to drill a hole for the round nut inside.. then.. FAWLA... done it.. save my $$ on buying a new givi rack..

 

totalpet : u cant hammer down cos sure will have uneven lvls for the rack, ricking it to became either 1 higher and 1 lower angles or even 1 nearier to ur pillon seats the other facing other way..
